Tubepath vs X-treme

I have eventally decided to upgrade to rig, currently a profet 3.2 into pro 211 and 115 cabs

i have narrowed down my choice to either the Tubepath 10.1 or the X-treme 10.1

I will also be adding a pro 411 cab, so i can choose between different combination depending on the gig.

My main gig is a metal band (think killswitch engage, bullet for my valentine, unearth etc). I am also playing a couple of other side projects,one is a foo fighters type band, and the other is mix of swing, funk and 80's pop.

Does anyone have any suggestion on which head to go for?

Both heads are really powerful (I own both). The X-TREME lets you have more control over the sound of your rig, it has a built-in compressor and also the EQ can be engaged or disengaged as you wish depending on your needs.

On the other hand, the TubePath has proved to sound warmer, at least to my ears, it has very unique sound to it. But as I always tell all of our customers, if you can get a chance to try them both, please do so, it is very important that what you're buying feels good to your ears.

Hi Wolfie,I tried out all the Warwick amps before I decided & Imo the Tubepath is the bees.The X-treme is a very good amp but the Tubepath was the one that floated my boat.

thanks for comments guys, My real concern with the tubepath, is that i may only have one sound. The extra EQ on the Xtreme is very attractive

You have a lot of EQ options with the TubePath too. What I was referring to was that in the X-TREME you ahve the option to disengage the EQ.

On tubepath heads, the footswitchable contour gives you something to play with.

You can get many different sounds with it but during live playing you only can switch the contour rough or smooth.

You an also switch the second tube stage on or off via footswitch but that won't give you a different sound, more of a different texture to the same sound.

thanks for info. I've since bought myself a used Pro Tube IX, I'm loving the channel switcing.

Great piece of gear, the best all around head I have veer seen and owned.

If it didn't weigth 2 or 3 tons I would still be playing one.
