Hey guys, picked up a 2nd hand Tubepath yesterday. All seems good except when I switch the second stage on (or off) i get a 'pop' out of the amp. Anybody got any ideas what that might be?

And whilst I'm here, can someone explain to me (really simply!) why the mid 1 and mid 2 controls have a 'switch'? Does turning them without the switch on do anything or not?

Cheers all!!!

Hi Pedro,

About the pop... well... I don't know why is that but it is not that you will change that setting during a show. You will probably use it with the 2nd stage on (for vintage sound) or off)

About the switches - they change the frequencies on the MID 1 and MID2 pot. So you have two frequencies to chose for each pot.

Cool cheers Flo. Just wanted to check that the pop didn't mean I was opening up a black hole in the universe or something disasterous like that, in the unlikely event that I do need to switch between the two during a show (or any other time) i can just hit mute first and change it. Thanks for the info bout the switches too, 2 more things to think about when trying to dial in the right tone!!

Gonna use the tubepath tonight with the band, which will be my first real chance to put it through its paces so I'll report back either tonight or tomorrow with how it performed.

Hm, it never does that with me (neither manually nor via footswitch). And I *do* use the switch fairly often between songs.
You might want to check if it does that with a footswitch, too - in which case it could be a faulty circuitry. If not, it should be just the switch.
