Tropical Storm Fay Madness!!!!

Well, as many of you know, i'm based out of Jacksonville, Fl....if you have been watching the news you have probably heard of TS Fay and how it's kicking Florida's a$$! We are getting pounded right now....and have been for the past three days. It stalled out and didn't move at all for like 36 hours and just tore us up.. Well, it is finally moving west towards the Gulf of Mexico, although very slowly at only 6mph. We are getting tornadoes and pounding wind and rain right now and it's expected to only get worse for us as the storm pulls away and gives us it's northeast side(which is the most powerful part of a tropical cyclone).

Anyway, just thought i would share this with you all! I'm about to brave the elements to go out and buy some cigs.... I'll check back later, hopefully we'll still have electricity.

This all actually makes me miss being home!!! The street floodings, bridge closings, etc etc... Oh well, I'm in Louisiana, I'll get it soon!

Sorry to hear about your troubles bro. Sh*t is crazy. I've been watching the news / weather channel a bunch because I have friends (you included)/ family down there and I've been pretty worried about everyone. The rain is one thing, but the tornadoes and super high winds are scary stuff man. I can't get in touch with a few of my friends and I'm starting to mildly freak out. Hoping for the best for you duder. Do you at least have power so you can rock out throughout the storm?

hope all is well out there. we never really get any real weather here. occasional rainy season, but that's it.

Seriously though, bunker down, good excuse to give up the smokes, point your rig at the storm, crank it up, paly a nice low "C" & blow it away!!

i agree... it took me a second to realize what you meant, though... with the whole fags = cigs thing... rather than homosexuals.... but oh wells!

I dont know about you Rusty. :) Did you guys see the video of the Kite Surfer the other day enjoying the storm? Almost killed him
 
I remember being back home, we used to throw Hurricane parties... You'd see surfers and skaters outside on skate boards, people street/wing surfing, swimming in their front lawns... Lot's of hurricane memories from Florida, that's for sure... Can't wait to come home one day.
 
Thanks for all the replys guys! Everything turned out to be OK....we had some really friggin close calls with a few tornados that ripped through a few blocks from my condo...it was kinda hairy for a bit! I actually heard the "freight train roar" while they were ripping across the area.Kinda scary, but kinda fun as well....i actually enjoy a good storm in a wierd sort of way....lol...as long as people don't get hurt and it doesn't mess property up.....we all got fairly lucky! Thank GOD!

That's great to hear Carey.
I spent 8 months nursing my dad,before he died from lung cancer.There's always more than one victim with cancer,the sufferer,& the carer.After 6 decades of smaoking,it not only cost him a fortune,but also his life,& made for a miserable death.That experience will remain with me for life.I cant believe that in this day & age,ciggies are legal & people take it up,knowing what it does.Anyway,such is life.

Wow....i'm very sorry to hear about that man!! I quite knowing that it may be the best thing i could of ever done for myself.....currently, i'm healthy....i pray it wasn't too late...
 
Sadly, my grand mother died of Lung cancer from smoking, she died when I was 5, so I barely got to know her
 
Glad to hear you made it out of Fay alright. Tornadoes are scary stuff... I saw my first funnel cloud this summer from less than a mile away and it was a pretty fascinating feeling. I was shaking because I was scared sh*tless but I was also kind of excited and hoped that it developed and touched down. Obviously I didn't want anyone to be hurt by it... but it never touched down.

Anyway.... glad to hear about giving up the stoges as well. I've been smoking for the past 7 years and I effing hate them... but love them at the same time. My girlfriend and I are going to help each other quit, which I think I can finally say I'm ready to do. I've started running again (something I did fairly regularly before starting smoking) and it motivates me to quit because I feel like I'm dying during my run. The way I look at it... what if I had to outrun a cougar that was chasing me? If it happened tomorrow, I'd be effed.
