Transfer DV to the computer

I borrowed a Sony DV recorder to record our last gig. How do I get this thing into my computer?? It's one of those old ones with a small tape. It's got no USB jack. Anyone???

um well it depends on tools and things you possibly have. Is it one of those ones with a small tape you put in a bigger one to play on a VCR?

if so i'd link that to a dvd recorder, copy it from VCR to DVD then put in your computer, but there is probably an easier way

yes there is an easier way but it involves firewire + that site i like 4 years old :lol:

'The best way is with a firewire cable (IEEE1394) you will need to have a firewire port on you PC and some suitable software. I think the model you have should have come with some software.

You'll need to check that you camera has a firewire/DV/i.link port (they are all different names for the same thing)'

so you may need to hunt around for a firewire lead and check to see if you PC has a firewire port as iirc they are far more common on macs
