Hi everyone!

I've a little problem with my Thumb 6 BO: I don't know what Pick-Ups it has!

On MEC site I see that the 6 strings Active SoapBar is a Split-Coil PickUp, size 33x119mm

But on Thumb BO page (I've no the newest version with Bubinga body) and on my Warwick Warranty Card, I see that my Pick-Ups are HB/HB that obviously means HumBucker.
I've got a calibre and I've measured the width and I see 124,6mm..
Maybe I did a wrong measure, but I need to know If my Humbs have a different shape because I'm going to order two custom Pick-Ups and I need the exact dimensions.

I don't think that, for this custom work, is required a perfect measure and I think I've a little of allowance, but I prefer to ask here also..

Another similar question: I've different dimensions for string spacing: I need the exact measure because the custom PUs will be open and each magnet will be placed right under each string.
I remember reading that 6 string Thumb string spacing is 17,5mm (Maybe I remember a wrong information) but, according to calibre, I've different results....for each string couple!!! Is that possible? Maybe I've did an inaccurate measure...but I read, for example, 15,6mm for LowB-E distance....and it's different between E and A and, for the bridge Pick-Ups, they'r different once again!!

How can I do?

Thank you a lot!!! :)

string spacing can be adjusted at the bridge saddles.tiny little hex key on the side you can adjust them yourself no bother...as for the rest sorry:( all that electric witchcraft is beyond my tiny brain..

Hi Matteo,

The pickups are probably split coils inside, and I think it is a mistake on our website, but I asked and I am waiting for a confirmation.

The size should be standard, as nobody wants to make unusable pickups :-)

Hi florin! Thanks a lot...but..If I have Split Coil there's a mistanke on my Warranty Card too...Is that possible?

You're right!! Only few minute later your post I've made what kind of stupid question I've posted -_- ....
...but last night I've worked on my Thumb to make string spacing "regular"...and I wasn't able to fix this spacing at the same value for each string!! I've some problems because, even if I put each saddle in the center of their compartment I've a shorter spacing than other strings between G and High C..
Maybe I did something wrong...tonight I'm going to try again.

what i did with my own is the two outside strings (B AND G) i put at the max i could and just took the middle point between for the A string space, the E and D were the mid points again...you can more or less do the same for your 6string with a bit of math..lol--and there is no such thing as a stupid question:) there are only stupid mistakes;)

Sure, the infos are in the system.

I understand, thank you a lot, I expect the confirm.
I'm sorry: Can you write also the standard string spacing for a Thumb BO 6 Fretless? Is that 16,5mm? Thanks a lot again! :)

Yes, but measured from center to center!

Yes, but measured from center to center!
If you mean center of each string is exactly the value I need!! Thank you a lot!! Oh, by the way: I made it!! 16,5mm is the same value for each spacing!

For the measure of pick-ups I will do them in the very next days and I will post my results!

Probably I will add a switch for each PU so I can use Dual, Split, Line and Parallel configurations..

florin, have you got any other information on my PU type?

thnk

Hi Matteo,

I don't know why I didn't told you this in the first place, but do this:

Take a screwdriver, and place it on the pickups. And you will feel where the magnets are. If you have two parallel blades, it is a humbucker, if you feel like a split coil then it is a split coil. Easy way to check it by yourself :-)

Ok, next week I have 3 exams at University, when it's over I will set up my Thumb and mesaure PU, then I will find out the answer!
Thanks

Exams'r done! So, I've checked with my Caliber. I've two splitcoil. Mistery's solved! I've seen that blades are in the "mirror configuration"!
