Thumb Bass SC5 EQ Pot Replacement

I replaced the bass pot on a friend's Thumb SC5, following closely the wiring diagram, using original MEC pot, the bass sounds great, no noise whatever, the problem with the pot is completely gone, but my friend says this has affected his coil split switches, BOTH OF THEM! He says middle position and upper position sound exactly the same on both pups! Is that even possible?! If yes, could someone please tell me what I've done wrong?

well they should sound very similar
parallel in comparison with the neck side coil.

I do not see how you could have influenced the coil switch even less both
