Thumb Bass 4 Neckthru VS Bolt On in slapping

I am about to sell my Buzzard BO 4 to buy a used Thumb 4, I can't make up my mind to buy a BO or NT, I have tried both of them, 10 years ago I play my friend's Thumb NT 4, looks awesome, very fast neck, sonic response, but dont got big bottom especially on stage...hard to hear it.

few months I play a 2005 old stock Thumb BO 4, woody and punch, very different than my Thumb NT 5 and 6, but have no chance to play it on stage.

BO is a slapper, NT is a keeper and eye catcher, what will you do?

I feel I really like the neck pickup on Thumb Bass, maybe I also concern to custom a Thumb 5 NT with 4 string vision pickup location
 
Well, NT is great but if you are into slap than BO is for you !

NT is great for fingerstyle but BO is much better slapper for sure.

Old stock Thumb BO has body wood all into mid and Thumb body wood is all about bass.. NT has 26 frets and makes you slap few mm cloaser to bridge and that is very important if you want timber slap sound. I have MM and it has only 21 frets. That makes big difference. Of course, there are a lot of factors but number of frets is one of tham. NT=26; MM=21 If you are into slap, take used or custom shop old stock BO and you will not be sorry. I like slap and I can confirm that Thumb BO is great slapper.
 
the original thumb which is the neck-thru design was specially made for slappers, keep in mind;)
i don't like the comparison between nt and bo for each beeing better as the other... it's just a matter of taste and what you would rather like.
 
I always prefer an NT Thumb over a BO. I think the slap tone is great, and IMO you lose nothing with the NT, which IMO is a superior bass in every aspect.
 
I prefer NT as well although for me the slap tone of thumb basses sounds way too thin. Streamers have a much better, meatier slap tone then thumbs have imo. I'd go for a stage 2 instead.
 
My streamer LX is brilliant for slap. The thumb BO i have tried was not as good for slap to me.
 
thanks guys, I have SSII and SSI also, I like the trantraditional SSI slap tone and the aggressive SSII slap tone, but Thumb bass are easy to kick their ass in fingerstyle, my teacher told me, if the bass sounds great in fingerstyle, they will also sound great in slap.

I agree with Dimarco, the slapping tone of thumb bass sounds way to thin, especially on stage, I just thought maybe the BO 4 can do the different job, or I will definitely choice the NT one, there are some Youtube clips I found, they are all NT 4, the tone are great but it will sounds better to add some bottom, I can't found the Thumb BO 4 clip like that.

I've got a ThumbNT5 for a while now and....to me, the thumb is the bass so take that low end to the band.

I like slapping on a bass and that's why i started of with a corvette 2 years ago. But this thumb...it's true that the slaptone can be a bit thin...but in the end I'm convinced that it's nothing my compression pedal can't handle :D Diamond bass compression rules !
