Thumb 5 string spacing

I know it is quite narrow compared to 19mm of most 4s, but is it possible to widen it just a bit? I think I remember someone saying it is 16.5mm with the ability to +/- 1mm. Would prefer if a Warwick guru could confirm this :)
 
confirmed! my main basses are stageI basses with wide spacing except for my fretless streamer, so did the same on that one. just place the b and g string at the max and center the e and d string, there ya got it. feels much comfortable but it's still not that great as the wide spacing:)

I can't imagine there is too much fretboard to work with...can you get the full 17.5, or would be closer to 17?
 
Just though I would throw this out there.

Would doing this make it easier to accidentally press the string over the side of the fretboard? I hate it when that happens, seems like it would cause an issue.
 
Well, it mostly will just instrantly kill the note mid air :) I will try to get used to the smaller string spacing, 2-3 mm is not all that much
 
those strings will go back after few hours....it doesn't work, you need a BN thumb
 
I did a trick.. Since I consider the B string as an exceptional string, so I don't really play too much on it, I set the E string closer to the B string, so I have more space between the rest of them. 17,5 mm without the strings being too close to the edge, and maybe 15 mm between B and E.

It feels pretty good to me.
 
no probs here on my fretless, strings didn't went back and their never jumped over the edge.....

Awesome Idea Florin! I would have never thought of it :-( I just did this on my Corvette STD 5 and it made it feel much more like the Corvette 4 I just bought. I will probably start playing this bass a lot more now. Thanks.

Yep.
For me, that is.
I played around with spacing on a 5th & it made bugger all difference, but then my fingers are kinda thick.
BN's are defiantly the way to go if ya prefer the more relaxed playing over precise playing.
