SO its basicly been a year since i got my FNA custom bass, and since then i haven't played any other bass!!

Needless to say ive used her alot and she's gotten a bit beaten up, also theres been what looks like flaking of the stain or wood just about the pickups, which is a bit weird.
So im going to post some pics to see if somebody could explain whats happend.
Secondly does anyone know how much a respray by the custom shop would cost? Ive got a nirvana black stain and i was thinking of the same color, perhap something a bit more hard wearing...any suggestions?

Sadly the CS won't do a respray on your bass. You could send it to SimS:

They're in England too and they have fair prices. There's a price-list on their site aswell.

I've got a stained Nirvana Black $$... always reckoned if it got too beat up I'd probably see if I could have it re-finished by Sims.... probably not a cheap option, but still an option. As it happens, I quite like the mojo appeal of the shiny patches it's getting from where my arm rubs against it. But it hasn't got the same attractive grain you've got on yours. Maybe if you had it re-done, you could also get a clear polyurethane coating to keep it shiny and pristine!

Markdax,
That is one sweet looking bass you've got there..... very nice indeed!

I gotta admit,

I'm not so fond of silver hardware....................but boy oh boy, it does look really gorgeous on this bass.............. It looks like the black finish is slightly lighter than average, making the Flamed Maple more visible maybe ?? Or maybe it's the Flamed Maple that's making the bass slightly "less black" than when you have the same finish on an Ash bass ?

Great bass man............ :D

"Is it the beautiful sound from the instrument you hold...........
Or the sound beauty of the instrument you show?"
That is the question.- Broken thumb.
