Thoughts about woods? I need a little wisdom for my new bass

Hello, senors!

I`m currently looking at a new bass. No, it isn`t Warwick, so I`ll cut the brand out of it until somebody really wants to know. But it`s a good deal on a lefthand.

I have two options:

1) NT / 2-band EQ / Body: Mahogany w. figured maple top / Neck: 5pc maple-walnut / EMG-Hz pickups /Black Cherry Finish

2) NT / 3-band EQ / Body: Mahogany w.bubinga top / Neck: same as above / EMG-Hz pickups /Natural satin finish + 150$ as to no.1

Both basses are 35" and 5-string.

Who do you think are more versatile of these? I have no idea of the maple/bubinga tops are gonna make that much difference in sound, but the 3-band EQ will surely add some extra possibilites. I just wanna know what you guys think. They both look sexy.

I see you too seem to be ignored at times, well I won't leave you hanging. You may have already bought, but I say Bubinga. The 3 band eq will be useful.
 
I think both would be versatile. Perhaps #2 could sound a lil thicker due to the Bubinga(if it has much effect at all).

If you are a fan of active electronics go for #2.
 
Hehe, I`d almost forgot this thread. Yeah, most likely I`ll go for the bubinga 3b-EQ when the time is right. Thanks guys!

Ya'v prolly decided by now,so here's to the end result.(raises glass)
 
In the 2-band pre, the treble is usually set at a lower frequency. I find about 2.5KHz much more usable than say about 6KHz, at least for rock type music.
 
I would suggest the second option out of those two, but waould also suggest different pickups.

Ive had HZ's before and they can be pretty noisy and thin sounding compared to other brands (barts, nords, MEC, delano etc)
