The sound of a Vette. proline.

So I've come up with an idea to help anyone who has a question about a certain basses sound and how it compares to another. To help with the idea I'm going to setup these polls that have a scale from 1 to 5. 1 being a hi-fi sound and 5 being a traditional sound. I know you can get a hi-fi or traditional sound after a bit of tweaking but for accuracy only judge based on how the bass sounds with a flat EQ and the PUPs in the middle. After a few weeks of the polls being up I'm going to take the info. from the polls and put it in a graph form with pictures and such. This will hopefully end some of those "how does this bass sound compared to this bass" threads.

Man! The bass is SUCH a chameleon that it fits Hi-Fi and Trad. its a breed of its own really, she has very much so her own voice. But I guess a little more clean and Hi-Fi than a trad. bass so Im going for 2. But if you push it, it growls like a trad. Jazz bass... this scale is so hard to judge her with!!!

I put my workhorse right in the middle.

The dark woods coupled with the light woods,
has gotten my goose for years. I'm a HUGE
fan of the look, and tone of Flamed Maple.
I won't buy another bass that ISN'T a mix of
the dark and light, ever again. (Okay, Thumb
MAY be an exception.)

I can get a real nice traditional jazzy tone,
almost Jaco-esque if I push'er hard enough,
I can get a real nice funky precision tone too.

Then, when I need to, I can make this thing
growl like a cougar claiming territory.

I can cut through the mix like no other bass I
have ever played, and really fits my playing style,
and tastes in music.

I think this is the shining glory of the Corvette
line-up. Warwick should bring this puppy back
as a standard model.

I put'er right in the middle with a three because
of the tonal versatility I get with this baby.

Well, apart from the pickup position, it's pretty much the same as the Streamer LX I've tried (5 strings tight spacing). Really a great all around bass. Maple body gives the traditional fundamental while the Ovangkol neck is there to give it the Warwick personality Like Michael said, very versatile and a nice blend of vintage and modern. 3

My pro-line 'vette has a flamed maple body & neck so is quite bright sounding but is more 'traditional' sounding than hi-fi.
I have to dig in over the bridge p-up to get the growl but it is such a great all rounder & capable of any style, it;s my favourite rock bass.

At one point last summer, I had eight production model Wicks to get the variety of sound I wanted. Now I have ONE. The CS is its own beast but the Proline is the go-to bass for whatever I want to do. ~M~
