The Smell of Wood

Not only is my warwick a great sounding piece of timber, but I am also the best smelling musician in the band

I have started waxing wih beeswax which smells of lemon, add to that the lemon oil on the fretboard and it smells lovely, makes a change from sweaty drummers sticnking the place up :wink:

try also Howard's Feed N wax which has beeswax and also orange oil. it makes it shinny and smalls like orange.

The factory has just got even better imo, if that was at all possible!

The only thing better than "new car smell" is "new Warwick smell"!

The factory and Custom Shop must really smell incredible, with the wood and sawdust of freshly cut Bubinga, Ovankol, Afzalia, Wenge, Ebony, Maple, Ash, Poplar, etc. in the air and then the oils and beeswax... No need or desire for air freshners around there, I bet!

I love that smell! First experienced it exactly two years and one week ago! I love my bass

mmmm yesss... when i first got my warwick i used to be able to smell the back of the neck.

and also when i first bought my G K the fan would put out an amazing new amp smell.

When nI bought my Thumb BO5 the guy had used it in some gigs so the wood did smell like tobacco a little but the rockbag stunk baaaad. So I put it in the washer in delicate cycle and used Downy (twice0 npot the bag is extremely soft and it smells like Downy. MY THumb sometime smells like Downy too. Funny.

Never had the pleasure of smelling a new warwick but I have brought a new rickenbacker 4003 and that was just the best smell ever. It was a really sweet smell that was so good that I may have to buy another!

Shame warwicks kill rickenbacker in every other category lol

The smell of the wood itself wouldn't be so detectable. Because the woods they use are stored and dried for several years before they are used.
I think the smell you feel is the oil finish, sawdust, and the love(sweat, lol xD) of the workers of the factory


PS: I don't think they sweat on our instruments

I neglected my first Warwick ('99 Corvette 6'er)...after many many MANY gigs it started to stink (with a faint hint of smoked sausage- no joke).
I now wax religiously!

You will hear smell of finish, not of the wood, right?

It's the smell of wood, and sawdust, a very specific smell. At the factory this smell is very pronounced, and it is canned in the case
