the "real" star bass

That bass is EVERY kind of awesome!

It's got way to much funk for me, but in Bootsy's hands it would go off! You know you're on a winner when you have more pickups than strings.

I love it!

:d

Looks like they copied his old multi-output stage bass from ages ago, and turned it up to 11! that is truly a bootzilla creation. It probably needs its own three-phase power.

Neck Through,
Swamp ash body
Maple neck
Individual switches for all pickups (EMG)
Ebony Fingerboard
7 batteries inside :-)

Any idea how the electronics work> i heard he used to send each pup to a different send so he could run parallel effects to a bunch of different amps.

Dunno bout that Augie, but thiz iz Bootsy playing live in 2011 and U can clearly see he uses 2 Hellborg stackzzz .... 8:
(solo for which he uses lotz of effectz startz round 7:30)

GREAT videos :d

One of the Hellborg stacks might be the other bass player backing him on a Warwick? At 1:44 you can see him adjusting the second Hellborg rig. I think it's a Streamer that you can see on a stand at the right of the Hellborg rig during Bootsy's solo, then he comes out and backs Bootsy again and you can see the Headstock and some of the bass at around 11:56 and 13:07.

Ahh - cool ;)

I was kind of thinking the streamer paint job looked familiar!

Did you know that, or did you catch a glimpse of him on the video?

;)

EDIT: Now I see him at around 12:33. That's a nice 'other' bass player to have!

I know it because it was anounced when Bootsy´s tour started last year. ;)

& I thought the Fodera Star bass was the ultimate Star bass.
Not no more it aint!!

Because nobody but Bootzilla himself should be allowed anywhere near this instrument of awesomeness.

All the specs and pics are in the CS Gallery now!

I would love a good write up on this monster. Like how it was made, and how the electtronics work. It looks like there is one switch per pup, then one knob (volume?) and oanother switch. The whole back looks like a compartment cover, and there are holes, possibly for trimpots?
