I'm going to Australia in May and after a bit of research I found this!

Anything else scary to look out for!

I get these Huntsmen spiders coming in my place all the time. They're harmless & keep the bug numbers down. The worst thing about them is they jump when they get scared, usually of some idiot trying to catch them in a jar, like the clown in the video. If ya leave them be, they move on.
The things ya gotta look out for are great white sharks, tiger sharks, funell web spiders, red belly black snakes, yellow belly black snakes, blue ring octopus, red back spiders, eastern taipan snakes, brown snakes, bull sharks, stone fish, box jelly fish & salt water crocodiles, to name a few. All of these critters will kill ya.

True... other than Greg's list above, there's nothing to worry about!

:D

Where in Australia are you going?

Kareelpa near Nambour, about an hour north of Brisbane I think. Just tried to find my cousins house in Kareelpa on google maps and the area looks stunning. you have such a beautiful country and I can't wait to come and have a look. I'll be over in mid May which i believe is heading to your winter. The strange thing is that out of my window I can see snow, and the Oz winter I'll see is going to be probably warmer than my summers.

I'm already toying with the idea of moving, get some family sponsor ship. My only issue is that I'm training to be a truck driver and thats not on your skills list.

I have already decided that I wont be going into the water unless I see other people go first. The jelly fish sound nasty.

ROFL what an idiot. Watch out for them aussie lassies too saxterman or you'll end up spending your life down under! ;)

BTW Huntsmen spiders aren't deadly but they do bite you when you're being stupid.

This little lady is far far more dangerous...

Nice - I don't know Kareelpa, but an hour north of Brisbane in May will be great... our northern winters are really nice... dry and warm - unlike our southern winters... cold and wet.

:D

If you land in Melbourne, let me know - I'd be happy to show you around.

;)

Dont sweat the critters mate, usually only get you if you are doing something stupid. like trying to pick up snakes/spiders/scorpions etc. or swimming in waterholes with beware the crocodile signs. The real thing to look out for are the people. We are friendly buggers but the chicks will make you fall in love the guys will pour beer into you untill you fall over. Although it is queensland so they might pour rum into you untill you fall over instead.

haha you'll love it.

Talk about asking for a domestic accident. That spider actually looks nice, but only in the vid, hehe.

You reminded me of this vid I 've seen a couple of months ago:

There's loads of cool places to visit that are within the area you'll be staying at Saxon.
Australia Zoo's (Steve Urwin/ crocodile hunter)pretty good.
Bundaberg rum distillery, Glass House Mountains, Noosa Heads, Nimbin & Byron Bag for the hippy in you, Surfer's Paradise. The guide books list all these & hundreds more.

Forget white sharks, crocodiles, snakes or spiders, everyone knows that the most dangerous animals in Australia are Koalas.

I believe a very important question was raised on I'm a celebrity get me out of here the other night - "Whats a Wallaby?"

I've been toying with the idea of moving so if I like it which I'm sure I will I may be back in several years on family sponsorship or something. Your governement doesn't recognise Lorry driving as a skill which is annoying.

I'll be heading over there on the 15th with an overnight stop in Malaysia. Then landing in Brisbane I believe so thanks for the offer with Melbourne but I wont be any where near. I'm pretty sure I'll get some sort of lure from the local wildlife that makes me want to come back. I hope I do any way! I have been told Aussie girls like English accents. Can't wait.

I've had enough of English weather anyway. I could put up with the critters if the sun is shining and the weather is sweet, make me wanna move, my dancing feet.

Funny thing is that I'm driving 370 miles tomorrow to the other side of England, not even half the distance you guys have between cities.

Truckies (thats strine for 'lorry drivers') have tough jobs over here mate, 2000km one way trips are common. Plus we have road trains (64+ wheel, three trailer monsters)on the remote roads. I must be very lonely work living in a truck for days a t a time. but if it will get you a visa its would be worth it!

it wont I had a look and it's not on your skills shortage list.

What other job though would allow me to see so much of Australia?

Roadtrains are awesome though. 3 times as long as our trucks.

Sorry Mr Bassman Sax,but I had to post this:
