The Heads Up Thread

Wow, that's "my" Corvette 8 exactly! Got to be an '08; 11 made in total. Great, slim neck, plays like a 4-string really.
There used to be a vid on Youtube that Andy made with this beast, but someone took it off, and Andy has not mailed it to me yet (I asked him a while ago).
Quite a different price tag now, though ;)

probably from warwick showroom

Yes, this seems to be the answer. Maybe a little expensive, but much less than for a regular 4-string.

I still cannot belief the new price level for german Wicks.

Got to be. Mine says 3/11, but in the old SE gallery (still griefing that it is gone!), it said 12 made total. One was the showroom model that Andy played in a video. So, guys and gals, go for it! This is the 8-string that Andy played for 4 minutes!

Hi everybody,

just back from nowhere !

I still cannot belief the new price level for german Wicks.

It allows me to better understand the Fodera prices ... for example.
Can someone explain me the X000 € difference (few years ago) between a Warwick X and a Fodera Y bass with approx. the same species ? Today, the difference is much less and althought it doesn't make me happy, it's something I understand because when you compare, you do it from a reference.
Why should Warwick discount its qualities ?
Today you get a PRO Corvette for the same price than a German one few years ago, maybe the same thing will happen with 2nd hand Warwick in the near future.
I think its about image, not only economics.

I think the price isn't necessarily due to an increase in overall "quality", but the techniques and materials involved. I don't think "cheaper" Warwicks are missing too many essential features that current ones have.

A large portion of the costs is due to the state of the art manufacturing, but a large portion of those costs is due to the environmentally friendliness of it all, and ditto for wood sourcing (I can't imagine there's a market for an FSC Corvette).

I think Warwick is heavily banking on the market being as excited about environmental friendliness as they are.

EDIT: I think most traditionally minded people would want their $5000+ instruments to be completely hand-made by Mr. X, Mr. Y, and/or Mr. Z. I don't know if everyone is comfortable with the whole 'our machines are more accurate than humans could ever be' line of thinking just yet. However, there's absolutely no denying that Warwick is state of the art, and I've never heard someone go to the factory and say "hmm, I dunno...."

 That´s why I stay away from that factory!

Pure witchery must be going on there. My Infinity NT5 CS for example was built for a guy who went there just for a tour and left the place with an order placed for this "Stealth"-Infy. No, no, no, I better stay away! Don´t want to think about an 8-string Infy with LEDs, numbers and stars inlays, hammered black chrome finish, custom electronics...

They have both been on sale for a very long time now... i wonder what it is...

For the green one, I guess the color might be the issue. Although as said, it coud be sexyfied a bit. Maybe with a tortoise mint green pickguard, also. I had plans for this babe, but another opportunity showed up. :-)

Those basses are Tony-the-tiger GRRRRRRRREAT !
(RIP Lee Marchall that voiced Tony. Died last week).
