The Heads Up Thread

I just commented on the custom shop SN that's been for sale a long time now over at basschat for 2900 GBP.
It has only 4 strings, is not a neckthru and is heavily overpriced. Yes it has some exotic (I hate it but ok) top and headstock wood.
I have no intention in buying it and the guy selling will probably hate me for being blunt, but I do not give a rats ass about my reputation and maybe just maybe the asking price will lower to an acceptable point for someone.

Did so, too, and I explained that I'd be one of the few willing to pay "good" money for this (CS SN, I don't have, and I LOVE the poplar Burl on the table). Athough "good" money is about half the price he wants, max, shipped.

1200€ for a Pro2 ? Red ? (a green one would be nice, with gold hardware and a custom MintGreen PickGuard)
1400€ for a Pro1 with twisted neck ?
Damn. Price went just skyrocket style for old Flippers. :-)

I couldn't understand this either. Also, let's not forget the 3800 euros wanted for that SN Buckeye burl Dolphin! They'll still be for sale in ten years time.

I know several others have already pmd him to tell him. I doubt he'll reduce it.

Is this the buckeye burl Dolphin? I really want it but his price is literally over double of what it is worth. I messaged him before too.

Tbh if he ordered it as a cs model and it cost well over 4 grand I don't think he's being greedy asking the price he is asking.

Of course I won't be buying it anytime. Worth and value are very subjective things once it's on the used market.

I think your comment might have been pulled Marco.

Thing is, I know that if were to buy a new Warwick there is no chance I would be getting anything like the money I paid for it. It's just a fact that they don't hold their value. I would have to accept that. I never will buy new from Warwick again though.

He's kidding himself.

I don't understand the problem here.

It's his property, he can do whatever the hell he wants with it. It is clear now that he doesn't want to sell it fast, instead he wants to sell it for this price. Whenever that may be.

He's under no obligation to put it up at the price other than he wants to, just because someone in the internet says so.
It's not water, nor medicines. It's a boutiqe bass, a luxurious commodity.

If I see something that i like, but the price is too high I just move along, not whine like a teenager.
Don't understand why can't You guys do the same.

tl;dr Don't like the price, don't buy it.

Staying on the topic:

89 streamer Stage I for ~1320 EUR.

Of course. I don't care that much. I have two custom shop buckeye burls already. 8:

He's quite entitled to do what he wants for it, you are right. I too am also entitled to my opinion and my opinion is that that price is ridiculous and therefore I will mock it. Same as if I saw someone selling a bar of chocolate for $10.

Free speech is great huh?

Starbucks can charge 5€ for shitty coffee if they want. But you won´t see me buying it if I could get a cup of nice coffee for 1,30€ in a "normal" coffee shop.

Because I want to buy it, but at half price :-)

EXACTLY.

You go and buy yourself nice 1,30€ coffe from normal coffe shop.
You don't sit in front of Starbucks and yell "Sell me your 5€ shitty coffe for 1,30€ because around the corner they sell DIFFERENT coffe for 1,30€".

If you catch my drift. 8:

No but you'll sit in the normal coffee shop with your friends and say 'how ridiculous is that price of the coffee in Starbucks?!, they must be crazy'.

:D

Well, not only I can do that, but I can also come to Starbucks and prove that they will sell me their coffee for 1.30 today and 1.00 at the end of the week because of productivity gain, and then make them sign an agreement on cost reduction, and so they'll be happy to have a new customer.
I do this everyday at work.

Have to say it's easier with parts you don't need than for a bass you'd like to have.
But still.

:D
That's later in the meeting with my other colleagues in Purchasing. :-)

As Starbucks drinkers walk past pointing and laughing, yellng "look at the paupers drinking from their cheap cups"

Meanwhile in the coffee shop everyone is muttering " this cheap coffee is delicious, the price makes it taste so good, secretly thinking, if that Starbucks was only half the price, I'd have me a grande buckeye burl latte with cream. Grr"
:)- this indicates I am making joke.

Unrealistic prices are unrealistic. That's what is wrong with it. I do not care about how much the seller think it is worth, only about what it actually IS worth. The guy is either a gold digger or an asshole for asking this much.

No, he's the owner of the bass.

And that's ok.

What's not okay is writing to the seller things like "You should sell your stuff for half of the price because i want it and i don't think its worth more".

Precisely this. Bitching about the price is fine, but contacting him because you think the price is ridiculous is, well, ridiculous.

Well interestingly warwick seem to believe they are worth what they sell them for. Not what a load of randoms on the Internet think.

I actually messaged him politely to ask him to consider a price and he rejected. I'm allowed to do that. I never told him what he should value his bass at. But you assholes carry on making stuff if that makes you happy.
