The Heads Up Thread

Mainly for North American peeps...

Here's probably the finest example of the "Guitar Center" 2001 LTD, I've ever seen. The Bubinga figuring is insane. And it's a smokin' deal as well. $1200 shipped US. Greg is really nice guy. I was close to buying this a few months back, but got the '07.

Found an old pic I had from when I was interested... check out the almost quilted effect from above.

Redonkulous.

in 2007/8 we still had a member who owned all (ok not so many then) :-)

And the Aussie dollar is at its worst since 2009 ... Almost a 5k bass for us :(

Thanks for the heads up tho :)

Seems like not too many of these pop up.... Current bid is $1075usd. 3 days left. Not sure if there's a reserve price or not. Seems to me anything under $1500 would be a steal for this.

2001 fretless. Pretty damn good shape looks like. MEC labels still intact. Mama mia!

And my eventual reaction to one day owning an Infinity....

Dont feel like you're missing out too much. I just had one and returned it, even being comfortable with a thumb bass balance, i have to say the infinity was very uncomfortable(to me) on a strap. Easily the best sounding warwick ive ever played, next to my streamer stage II. If you plan on playing sitting down all the time, i highly recommend the infinity.

The strap button being around the 16th fret, and the bridge being mounted further towards the center of the body put the playing position too far to the left for, and the bass tends to hang even more parallel to the ground than a thumb bass.

Are we talking about the same bass? I had some parties and gigs with my Infys, 4-string and 5-string, never felt uncomfortable in any way. Maybe they are not best balanced like a Streamer. But have you ever tried a Buzzard or a Stryker? These are balky beasts!

P.S.: the fretless sound of the Infy is superior!

Absolutely agree about the fretless infinity! Again, incredible sounding bass, and for the pickup configuration i thought it sounded even better than the dolphin. From the look of your pics, your infinity has a great 45 degree angle on the strap, but generally i found that the short upper horn (ending at around the 16th fret) put the neck farther away from my left shoulder, and caused the bass to hang level with the ground (like the first picture). This put everything above the 12th fret in a great position to play, but the first 9 frets were further away and lower to the ground than id prefer. Im used to Streamers, that tend to hand a bit more traditionally. Personal preference.

Right, the 4-string fretted and my 5-string fretless are LTDs. The 5-string fretted is a CS (different poti layout, blue side LEDs), but regular pus.

Holy.... What a lovely trio!

The grain on dat fretless. Unreal

Body of the black beauty more narrow than the LTD's? Or is it just the pic?

And are those individual air vents pumping in pure oxygen for the ladies?

It´s the pic. The air vents are... f*-holes...

Back on topic: someone grabbed dat 4-string fretless?
