Today I went to basscentral (great staff) and sat down with one goal in mind: leaving with a warwick bass guitar:). I narrowed it down to 2 suspects, the streamer stage 2/5 string and the lovely Thumb 5 NT. Well this was by far the HARDEST THING TO DO! good god, I didnt think it would be that freaking hard! they both sounded so great. but, after about an hour I made my choice and I left with the thumb bass! god I really love this thing. I have been home for about 5 hours and the most I have done besides play this thing is go to bathroom and take my shoes off. I have to say Warwick is by far the best. I have one question for you veteran warwick owners here, what is the best way to wax this thing? should i just do it by the book or is there some seceret way. And, do i wax the neck?

Hello there. First of all, yes, Bass Central does have the greatest staff I have met so far, they are all knowledgable people with a lot more to offer than just a good deal. You left that store with a great instrument and you will not regret it.

The best way to wax a Warwick bass is to wax it with a clean cloth in the same direction as the grain of the wood. After a couple of minutes later just wipe it off with another clean cloth, and that's it, the art of waxing a Warwick bass. I personally wax my necks, but some people prefer not to.

Bass central is a great group of guys, I had been talking with Beaver via Email about prices for a week prior to getting the time to drive there (quite a commute from Palm Bay, Fl), and he always replied quickly and was a nice guy, plus he had the deal's! :) Palm bay is still considered the "woods" so there arent any warwick dealers here just music shops full of fenders and the likes (ewwwwwwww). I think I saw your photo on the customers page(not sure if its you) at their website. But, i need to play my Thumb some more my fingers arent sore yet!

I'm in their customers page. We are long time friends by now, they got me my first custom warwick as well as my Infinity.
 
I don`t think you`ll regret buying your Thumb. It`s still defined as one of the most complete bassguitars ever. Enjoy yourself, and welcome as a member of a fine community.
 
i got a price quote for a thumb 4 BO from my local shop, 1300 euro, does that sound fair to you guys? 8)
 
I dunno Malk,1300 euros=$2,191 aussie dollars which sounds pretty fair from an australian veiwpoint,but it's different in europe,you guys get better bargains than we do.good luck with it btw mate. :wink:
 
Just out on interest - where in the world are Warwicks the cheapest once currency exchange has been taken into account?

Congrats on your new Thumb Bass!

It's alway fun when you go shopping for a bass and take home "The King of the Hill".

It's cool to hear that that you went with the Thumb, and you like it so well that you can't stop playing it. I've been playing for a long time (since '78) and I've had the opportunity to own and play quite a few instruments, some really fine ones. I have a fetish for Thumb Basses. They sound great, the feel great, and they are absolutely stunning to the eye. (Not to mention the fact that the Thumb Bass makes my house payment, etc.)

In my opinion you've just bought into electric bass at it's absolute finest.

Yes, I agree! It packs a very mean bark.
 
That's a fact.

I'm a big fan of "J" style pickups, and when I first saw a Thumb 5 and those pickups crammed down so close to the bridge, I thought that it might be too cool for it's own good.

When I played it I dropped my bag of marbles.

:lol: i hadda similar religious type experience along them lines too.i understand how it is bro,the partner didnt throw a fit when i mentioned how cool a thumb 4 NT would be,shows promise yes? :)
 
It shows a lot of promise, Greg.

If the partner does not throw a fit, I usually take that as "yes".

Malk - it´s good, here the recommended price is approx 1 825 Euro and you might get 15-20% off if you're a good customer so it's still good.

And H8ER 321 - welcome and I must say you made a great choice. It's never too late to buy another one :lol:
 
Hey Greg, I guess the European countries very much have the same pricing, the VAT differing. So if you get a 20% discount it should be around 1825 Euros plus VAT. For me anything below that would be a good price. How much in Australia? / mats
 
yeah that's the NT price i got as well, brought down to 1700 in my shop.. in fact i'm thinking about saving up a little bit more and get the NT instead :D

1825 euros =$3103 AUD right now,thats be a great price,my thumb 5 NT was $5800 ( 3411 euro) list price.I payed $4600 (2705 euro) tho. We have a 10% GST,I wouldnt have a clue what import tax would be.big difference in price eh mate.btw,those prices were 03. :wink: cheers buddy.
