Taranis vs Aguilar OPB-3

major disapointment today when i upgrade a passive Taranis with a aguilar OPB-3. configure stacked V/V- Mid (push/pull - stacked bass/treble

everything seems to be working great accept the treble range is very very small almost indistinguishable. metered the pots and it seems to be working.

so qns is it normal or i got a bad opb-3. or this is how opb-3 works with the Taranis MEC pups? very disappointed right now.

Maybe the treble is on a higher frequency, like 10k, and in that case it has less impact in overall volume.

went back to the shopped and they replace the opb-3 with a new one and test it there and it has the same issues, the treble is not distinguishable cut or boost. i know i tested other basses with opb-3 and the treble can boost to a point of un-usability.

so i reckon it could be an issue with the taranis pups? going to send a support email to 'em.

I just fitted an obp 3 to my Fortress one with active emg pj pups.
After reading your post yesterday i had a good listen to the treble,I don't use it much usually.
I can notice the cut n boost but it is less defined than the MEC 2 band i had with MEC passive pups.
Just a thought,are you running the obp at 9 or 18 volts ?,because I believe you get more boost with 18 volts.
Also for the EQ to be effective there needs to be a good signal at the specific frequency,it might be wornth asking aguilar if you can tailor the treble frequency in a similar way as can be done with the mids,so that the EQ is more in tune with the pups.

sorry to double post, i tot the support forum was more appropriate ;p

anyway its not up the 10khz, opb-3 is more or less middle of the road type.

Yes, but MEC is 2.5
6.5 has far less impact in overall sound and volume. It brings some finger definition...

ohhhh i did not know MEC is 2.5khz. thanks florin. i prolly get that replace to another set of pre- that can run at 2.5khz

You had MEC 2 band EQ, and you replaced it with 3 band EQ.
The 3 band EQ's usually need to have a higher pitch treble control.
