Take 12.1 issue and question about BC80

I just bought a new Take 12.1 from Guitar Center here in the US and it has a strange buzz or distortion at any volume and the fan keeps coming on and then shuts off after a few seconds and then repeats in a minute or so. It looks like I must have gotten the last new one from Guitar Center because they are no longer on their site. I didn't know if anyone else had similar issues with this amp? Also, does anyone know when the new BC80 is going to be available here in the US?

Hi Mayes, and welcome to the forum. Congrats for your corvette too

That looks more like a electricity problem to me. Of course I cannot tell without seeing the amp first, but when a buzz comes and goes, that usually means the fridge or something starts and stops and interferes with your gear.

To be sure, try another amp in the same place, or try your amp in a different place. If it is something else, then contact your dealer and have it repaired or replaced.

Thanks, I will contact a friend of mine that owns The Musicians Den in Evansville, IN. He is a Warwick dealer as well. I would rather have him take a look. He has fixed a lot of gear for me over the years. Pretty awesome guy, I haven't found anything yet that he can't fix. I was wondering if it might be a fuse.

I don't know what causes this, but it's a common problem on the Sweet 15 range and the Take 12's too. I haven't tried a Sweet 25, but might happen on them too.

It's documented on a number of websites, I've had it happen on two Sweet 15's that I owned, and seen it on a number of Take 12s I've tried as well.

A shame, as they were great amps otherwise.

I'm sure the new line of BC amps is sorted though. I'd like to try a new BC80... if it's anything like as good as the BC60.1 it's going to be great.

Well Guitar Center didn't have any more Take 12's so I had to order something else. GK MB115 200w on the way. I hear they are really good amps.

Thanks Florin, Yeah I really do like the tone from the Take 12.1, just wish it wasn't messed up. I've had GK gear in the past and it worked pretty well and had a good tone. I just want to make sure I get something that will compliment my 'Vette 6 (which is the best bass I have ever owned).
