Just received my new Fortress RB 5-String Fretless only to find roundwounds attached. The dealer says that's how they come. Does anyone know different? I didn't budget for a new set of strings (ouch)

Hi 3DG, welcome to the forum, and congrats for your new Fortress.

I think it´s normal they come with rounds instead of flats.

Cheers.

G'day Graham.
Welcome aboard mate.
The strings fitted are Warwick Red Labels, which are standard, even on the fretless model Rockbasses. The fingerboard's ebony so it can stand up to the rounds just fine.
Ya should've gotten your dealer to include a free set of strings of your choice in the deal.
Is it too late?

Hey Thanks for your help! My Fortress was imported from Thomann in Germany. They weren't v sympathetic. I purchased a cheap SX bass a while ago for silly money. It came with flats ( probably the most expensive component) so I thought that was the norm. Have some flats in the post so hopefully putting out some mmmwaah before too long. Cheers!

Hi Graham, welcome to the forum :-)

Give the rounds a chance though, most of the guys like them more...

You have now the possibility to compare them!

i use rounds on my fretless and it's holding up good i was told just not to do to many sting bends so the strings don't dig in but i haven't had any problems
