Ok, So I have tried a lot of strings and I can't decided on what I like better. I used Elixers, Ernie Balls, DR's, GHS, Dean Markley Alchemy, D'Addario, but yet I am still not satsified. I'm looking for a nice tight sound with a bright Low E for Slap. I'm a big Dirk Lance fan (Incubus orginal Bassist) and I have a Streamer Stage II 1999 and Eden WT800 and 4X10 XLT Cabinent. But I still can't get the sound I am looking for. I heard EMP strings are good, now are those the Warwick or Cleartone that are good?

I find the EMP's to be really bright. Too bright for my tastes.
I'm a DR Sunbeam user. I like the nickel strings.
Have you tried Nickel strings? The different brands you've used can make variations of similar styles of strings, so it's hard to tell what you've been through: nickel, stainless steel, flatwound, roundwound, etc.
I used to have the same amp/cab setup as you, and it sounds amazing. What about some EQing on the amp? There's really no way you couldn't get the sound you wanted out of that setup. Good luck.

Yeah, I have tried some DR Phat Beams, High Beams and Low riders. I did like the low riders the best. But I have not tried the Sunbeams. Ernie Ball Slinkys is what I have been using latley, but you lose some Mid-Range with those. The only thing that sucks is that you have to special order certain brands online or at GC, the GC here doesn't really sell a big variety of strings. I do want to try the Warrwick EMP's but I have to order them.

Greetings. I dont know if you can get them in the states, but my fave string for the last 9 or so years have been the Elites Stadium series stainless steel roundwounds. As a fast player that likes to get the low end as well as slap the ass outta my bass; I have found these to be the one for me. I prefer to use 100, 80, 60, 40.

I used to have a discount endorsement with Elites, used them for 19 years nearly.
But have you noticed any rusty strings recently? Usually E & B's? I've gone over to Warwick Red labels now, cheap as chips, sealed packets, nice bright growly sound. At the price, you can afford to change them more often.

cant say I've ever come across any rusty strings before, that would drive me mad. I have found that the elites do tend to wear out quick, but thats the price I pay for enjoying the sound i guess. :wink:

Try the new EMP from Warwick. Another very nice option are the Jonas Hellborg signature strings from DR, very interesting and they just came out.
I earlier had an Eden WT800 bass head but it sounded far too warm and dull to me. Adjusting the EQ didn't help at all. Have you tried other and more upfront sounding bass heads? I think you should avoid everything vintage/tube-alike sounding equipment and go for some hard facts. :wink:
I prefer D'Addario XL220-5 strings which I replace every third gig. They are roundwounds, gauges are 40-60-75-95-125.
I don't doubt that there may be better strings out there, but I've decided to not spend much more time and money on trying out more models since my experience is that the differences are not that big, and a set of strings do only sound great for several hours anyway. Choose strings with a light gauge wich you can afford to replace quite often!

My faveourite used to be Black Labels,then EMP's,coz they last so long but now I've fallen in love with the Yellow Labels.
All the Warwick strings are good quality btw.
