Is it possible to order a CS Thumb NT with a Zebrano body wenge neck with zebrano stringers, like the pre '98 thumbs with the bubinga/wenge necks?
 
Hey buddy, if you are talking about stripes, yes you can do Wenge neck- zebrano stripes. I did it on my CS.
 
That would not only be possible, but also pretty awesome!

Wenge with Zebrano stringers would be the way I'd go with a zebrano-bodied bass...
 
you can only do this on NT cant you?? i want to do it to my BO buzzard custom , but already went way over budget.
 
nope, stringers can be put in a BO neck as well (look at last year's Flaming blonde...)
 
My CS has Wenge/ Zebrano stringers... only nobody will see them since it's solid colored. :-)
 
What kind of tone would i get out of this combination? Also would it have a dramatic difference going from NT to Bo or is it like the factory thumbs where the thumb NT has more sustain then the BO.
 
no matter what wood you'll use, the BO vs NT difference is gonna be one of the most important defining factors...
 
Stringers are strips of a different wood in the neck of the bass, like these:
 
Stringers are the plies of wood that make the neck. A good example i think would be a 1998 Thumb NT or CS #012 with bubinga and wenge, l love the way it looks. like a '69 camaro SS with racing stripes :evil:
 
They have not much influence in sound, a Wenge neck with bubinga stripes will sound pretty much like a wenge neck.
