what can cause a drop in volume on one individual string,its happening on my A string,I have tried adjusting for saddle hight with pick up hight & even thought I would try the frequency range on my EQ channel,The strings are all from the same set although they are old..but why a loss of volume over one string...?

Well, you might want to start with new strings.

Experiment with different brands to find one that suits your tastes. Then see if the situation is still not satisfying...

Yes that's what I figured....new strings ordered...the problem is Bass strings ain't cheap so trying different brands/type is an expensive gamble...cheers for input

Try Strings And Beyond.com . They usually have sales on different strings.

Strings can age indifferent from eachother, so this happens from time to time.

IIRC, the A strings was dying first in my basses too... You don't use all the strings the same. Try a new set
