There are some threads about the Streamer $$ vs. the Corvette $$. The $$ models are very populair, but I also read a lot of nice stories about the LX lately. Any comments about the $$ vs. the LX? Similarities, differences, ...

Thanks!

Hi Curtis, ma man!

I played them both with my band, live, and I used the LX more, and in the studio too.

They have some similarities.
They seem very easy to play, they deliver a big, fat sound, like a WALL of sound. They also tend to be very aggressive when you dig in.

The Streamer $$ is a very light bass, probably the most comfortable Warwick!
In the mix can sound a little bit boomy, compared to the LX

The Streamer LX is a growl monser, very articulated, but also it can be very fat too. I would chose the $$ for comfort, but the LX for sound.

Here is a video with the $$, 2 months before leaving my band :-)

Okay, cool, this helps! Thanks. Cool vid too! I always enjoy the Proconsul vids!

As you maybe know I contribute to a bass magazine. I was looking for a subject to review. I tried to get the two basses mentioned above, but there wasn't an $$ in stock at Warwick's. I will now get a Streamer LX and Jazzman to compare, review, .. I will post my conclusions here too, of course.

I havenever A/B'd these two but i recently got a LX and LOVE it ( I have done some shop time with a $$ but never used one live). I really like the P-pup's ability to deliver really meaty growl whilst the J-pup gives a bit more clarity. I have a Jazzman where i find the MM pickup an be a tad boomy unless i am carefull with the blend and couldnt imagine it wthout the J to clean it up a bit. I think the ovankol neck and the maple body on the LX adds real grown and bite. The LX is no lightweight compared to the ash/maple neck $$ but 10 pounds of beautifull timber around your neck is a small price to pay for that tone. Dont get me wrong i liked the $$ when i played it but the LX seems to be more of a beast.
