Has anyone put EMG's in their SSII? I love the sound I currently have, and have learned to work with the preamps limited frequency ranges, but I'd like to be able to boost the treble at a lower frequency than the 8k that the MEC gives you. The alternative would be an aguilar preamp with the mecs.

i think before changing the PU, it would be more effective to change the preamp, because what you describe is more an preamp issue as an PU issue.

How did combining the active mecs with the aguilar preamp work? Different pot values?

IMHO it's better to use the POTs that aguilar prefers/recommend, if u use the aguilar preamp. in all cases, the 2 red cables that comes from the PUPs must be connected to the red cable from the battery.
Aguilar uses B50K pots instead of MEC B100K for the Stage II

Do give the 2-band MEC preamp a try. The treble (high mid actually) control is amazing, it's the main "meat" of treble imho. The OBP-3 is big and fat and sparkely, but can be a bit hissy.

I'll vouch for the OPB-3 too, I had one in my Mayones and that bass never sounded bad. (oh god why did I sell it)

i have obp3 + mec pickups in my Thumb NT
sounds good and clear

I have the OBP3 and MEC pickups in my Corvette ProLine - great combo
