Quick video I put together tonight comparing my Streamer Stage II 4 and LX 5. Both basses set flat and compared back to back with same pickup selections. Both were also just restrung with DR Lo-riders about 1-2 weeks ago. Tried to keep everything identical to help hear the differences and/or similarities between them.

Nice demo! I like the comparably dry voicing of the LX.

that's a very cool comparison.
I would like to add. If you think the basses are similar, well, they are not. In the mix they act totally different.
The Streamer STage2 is very "jazz bass" sounding, organic, and loud, and you cannot hide in the band.
Streamer LX is actually fat and massive, like a wall of sound.

Thanks for the vid! Makes me want an Streamer LX even more!

I would like to hear you play the bridge pups when actually fingering above the bridge pup. This vid u played with ur fingers above the neck pup or in between the pups all the time. If u could do that, I would be VERY happy. I've got an LX5, but my dreambass is a SSII 5. So I would really like to hear the bridge pickup a bit better :) Thank you. (Oh and maybe a little slapping? :D)

Awesome comparison, worthy of some listening meditation. :-)

They don't sound similar at all. With all due respect the LX is completely missing any of that midrange magic. A nice and growly bass nonetheless but not in the same league as the Stage II.

I wonder what an SS2 maple body would sound like... Or an LX with an Afzelia body.

I tried both mentioned combinations :-) Different shades of the same basic sound.

I have an LX-4 and have just ordered an SSII-4. I have be able to compare the tones when the SSII arrives. To me the LX5 and the SSII sound very, very similar. Maybe in a mix it sounds different. But the LX4 sounds pretty different than either the LX5 or the SSII, doesn't it? A

Any thoughts on whether having the LX-4 is redundant if you already have an SSII?

I think the LX 4 still has the LX magic, and I think any LX (4, or 6) is very different soundwise than any ss2
