Streamer size differences

I've known about the difference in thickness between the Bolt On and NT models of Streamers for a while (ever since I played my first SSII I saw how thin the body was), but I noticed something interesting when comparing my P-Nut II, SSII, and LX 5's. The LX has a smaller/short body, the Stage II being a little bigger, and the P-Nut being noticeably larger (see the picture below taken from the side, and you can see the different lengths between the models). I can understand the SSII being a bit smaller since it's a 4 string compared to the others which are 5's, so perhaps a 5 string Stage II would be the same as the P-Nut. I'm just surprised the LX is so much smaller than the P-Nut. Were dimensions changes over the years on all models, or are these simply differences in models due to the construction methods? (for example, I know BO Thumbs vs NT Thumbs have different body shapes, but the Streamers seem far more similar but may still have differing dimensions simply as a variety in model).

Also, both the P-Nut and Stage II's upper horns are rounded over and have no real "edge" to it, while the LX (and every other LX I've owned or played) has a more pronounced edge around it and a flat top (and rounded back). However, in pictures and videos of recent Stage II's, they appear to have more of an "LX Style" upper horn with a flat top and pronounced edges. Was that an intentional change, or is the model hand sanded so each models a bit different? It's minor, of course, but I do love the thinner and rounded body of the Stage II compared to the thicker and flatter LX, so it spiked my curiosity.

Very interesting observation. I don't know the facts behind the size differences, I 'd surely find it interesting to know as well plus I 'd surely love to see the grain on that LX since it is one of the newer ones with the flamed grain.

The shape changed slightly in time, and you are right, it is hand sanded, so there are some minor difference too... But at a given time, the SSII and Pnut should have the same shape...
Early streamers were insanely thin, and light I mean 1,5 - 2 cm at the edges...
Today, the streamers are pretty thick and masculine We had to do this first of all to fit the tallest pots in the industry in the electronics compartment.

The difference is too significant to be a variance in sanding. Must be elaborate. I wonder if wood choice is a factor in the size..

I am no electronics guru but an alternative of would be to design shorter pots. Even though it would be the more difficult option.
Just wondering though, when did the pot design change to the longest in the industry?

We havve those push pull pots that sometimes are like 3-4 pots stacked. We never used them in the 80's but we do use them now
Just look at a stacked Vol/Pan pot, with push - pull...

That is just a small factor. We changed the shape several times, last time about two years ago, when our buddy Alexander redesigned everything for the new machines.

Yup, I still remember how my jaw dropped when I opened the control cavity of my Dolphin for the first time.
They are quite amazing.

I actually prefer having less knobs on the bass, and that couldn't be possible without the skyscraper pots :roll:
