Need some for my Dolphin, tried some new Warwick strap locks in a shop last week and they wouldn't fit? What do I need for my '99 Dolphin, are they different, couldn't get the newer ones in, maybe they were jammed??

I just got a 99 Corvette I also got a new warwick bag 'rockbag'. It came with Strap locks and they are ever so slightly too big for my Corvette. So you are not alone there.

I did, however get some other strap locks that fit right in from Gtr Center. They are the Dunlop Strap Locks Dual Design Nickel (SLS1031). They fit right into my '99 Corvette perfectly. I didn't use the Dunlop strap pins, they are still in the box. I'm happy that I just got to use the strap locks that are built into my Warwick.

I use the dunlop ones. They seem far more durable. I'm yet to see any wear (unlike my Warwick lock which became useless), and the screw for it is bigger so it holds in even better.

All my basses have been fitted with them, plus you can use the button like normal with a spare strap.
 
Are the new external locks more durable? Or should I plan on replacing them?
 
I prefer the Dunlop dual design straplocks... Love em and trust them so much I interally installed them with epoxy :)
 
I use Shaller strap locks. They aren't cheap, but they work great. I have used all the others, but for some reason i like the Shallers better. Also, the pin is a pull pin, which helps ensure the lock isn't accidently disengaged on stage. I've never had a problem with them...been using them for many years....all my new basses get the same treatment right out of the box.

Try Boston strap-locks form eBay somewhere, based on shaller's in fact interchangeable they have a double locking nut so they don't come undone, also a fair bit cheaper than schallers.
 
I've used Schallers before, and I really like them, but now I'm using the Warwick locks that came with the basses... might change to Schallers if I have any trouble with them.
 
I have to replace my warwick ones at lease once a year on my 97 thumb NT5. They have let go a couple of times at the horn end which can have really bad concequences.

Looking for something else to try.

I have tried both style dunlops (original and dual style)I haven't had any problems yet.I also use the Schaller type with good results.I found the Dunlops fit my Warwick with recessed pins great.They fit the new Warwick end pins a little loose.The warwick ones don't fit the dunlops they are a little larger.Two of my warwick strap locks are wearing out quick,on one of them the retaining balls fell out and the other the sleeve thats at the tip came off.When there shot I'm going to use the Dunlop dual type.Because they hold the strap on the best when not using the straplock feature. :)
