My two-month old thumb has just developed a problem with its electrics. In passive mode with the volume on full it's mostly okay but prone to a bit of noise (which sounds like radio interference to me), and the noise actually gets a whole lot worse if I turn the volume down to around half-way, although it goes when the volume is down to zero. That noise is bad, but what's worse is that in active mode the bass is almost inaudible - I have to really crank the amp to get anything like the same volume. And again there is some noise which is worse when the volume control is in the middle of its range.

I'm guessing this is a problem with the push-pull volume pot, but would value a more expert opinion, and advice as to what to do (especially given how new the bass is). I am at least certain this is a problem with the bass and not the amp, battery or lead since I've changed each of those and got exactly the same behaviour.

Hey Mart,

This should be an easy job for a tech, I don't think someone can tell you what the problem is, without measuring...

But you can look for a loose wire inside, or if the pot is not stoping at the end. Sometimes, you can turn the over the max...

I hope everything will be ok, buddy, please let us know how it goes.

Cheers/ Flo
