Stage 1 Vs Stage 2

Hi I was hoping someone could answer this for me. What was the difference between stage 1 and 2 around 90/91? I have a stage 2 '91 and wanted to know about the 5 strings. Was it only the woods and pickups? Or was there different body shape and neck profiles?

Afaik different electronics, more laminations of the neck, different woods. 5 string SS1 is a broadneck, but already in 1990? Don't know.

Ss2 all have jazz type pickups, ss1 5's have soapbars. Quite different beasts. I guess the broadneck body may be bigger due to the wider neck, probably heavier too.

Thanks guys for your replies. I knew about the electronics and woods but was not really sure about the body shape. Since it was often just called streamer bass I was not sure if it was almost the same bass with the only difference being as stated above. I had forgotten about the broadneck. I have been playing Thumbs and Stage 2 for 20 years but never had Stage 1 so was just thinking if I was missing out on something. I only play 5 or 6 strings so I am not thinking 4 strings here.

Only view SS1 5-string are not broadneck. Maybe you also should think about the LX if you want to widen your experiences.
