SSI 5 MEC Preamp Dead?

Hi guys!
I had a problem with my battery conector, It was broken after many battery exchanges so I had to replace it with a new one. What I did is just cut the wires of the old conector and soder a new one (red with red and black with black). After this the preamp is not working any more. If I pull the volume knob to go passive I have signal, and sounds good. When pushing the volume pot to activate the preamp/Eq the bass has no output, completely dead. Any clue what might happen here? Before the battery conector replacement was all good...

I can send pictures of the back cavity in case is helpful.

connect the battery directly to the cables to be sure that nothing is wong with the new clip + check the cables
at the pre. Might have come lose when working on them

Long time away from this post, I just got back to try to fix the preamp issue. The battery clips seems to be fine since the pickups are active I guess power from the batteries is arriving to the pickups thats why in passive mode I still get sound. Is my assumption correct? Which other way I have to troubleshoot this? I´d like to know if the preamp is dead o the pull/push knob is faulty...I have checked prices for the MEC replacements and it´s really expensive, so before thi big expense I´d like to know if I can try some other type of fix...

I've had two MEC 3-band preamps from the early-2000s era go bad. Replaced with Aguilar OBP-3. All is well in the world.

Alternatively, EMG stuff is really nice, and solder-less.
