Ok so here is one. I’ll get more pics soon but man…this bass is so awesome! I’m a Spector guy and only have Spector basses. This is my first Warwick and I wanted something doesn’t sound like any other bass out there. The tone of this bass…wow!!!! It is a 2011 with a bubinga body, ovankol neck, wenge fingerboard, and it was upgraded with the 18 volt MEC preamp which is what I wanted in the bass if it didn’t have it. Also came with a Warwick flight case as well. I talked to the guy who played bass for Skrape, Pete and he used this on their first album. I loved the tone on that album as well as Mudvayne’s And the thumb had to be my first Warwick. The is literally no neck dive either, like I’ve heard there was. I still need to set it up but so far I’m extremely impressed!!!

lol! Gotta say I love my Spector basses but Warwick is carving it’s way into my heart as well!
I would be interested to hear your comparison of the Warwick to your Spector. I have many Warwicks, but zero Spectors. I have considered a few though.

I’ll try to record something using both, I do a TON of recording and writing, etc. As of now I can say that the Spector seems more full in the lows and cuts. The Thumb seems more full in the low mids and cuts really well. Also I have 2 other USA Spectors as well, so I can say they all have differences but are all awesome basses! I will say that I noticed some thing about the two bases as well. The Spector seems to maybe be easier to play. It could be just an acoustic feel, but when I slap the Spector, it kind of bounces more if that makes sense. The thumb is a bit harder to play for me when I slap. Don’t get me wrong though. It sounds absolutely amazing but I think another difference I’ve noticed is it just seems a little harder to play. I’ll get something recorded really soon and I’ll post the tracks as soon as possible.

I would expect that extra "bounce" would be a function of string tension. What type of strings are on the Spector and Warwick? Also, are the string heights the same on both basses? I have seen a few Spectors that made me drool......until I saw the price. Warwick prices have gone into low orbit as well though, I must say.

I used Blue Steels on my Spectors. Love those strings. Right now it came with Skjold Nickels, but I can't remember the gauge. It seems really tight at the moment though. Really tight haha. Also, I think I can maybe bring the pickups a bit closer to the strings too. I think the string height might be different too. I may grab a set of ProSteels or something different to try. Maybe Hi Beams. I'm still not sure yet. Trying to research some good strings for it.

Yeah the Thumb did cost me a bit more than I wanted to spend, but it already had the 18 volt pre I wanted in it and it came with the Warwick flight case. It is in great condition too and I'm really impressed with the tone! Feels like nothing out there sounds like a Thumb.

I feel really blessed to have the Spectors I've had and have. I got my USA NS-2 back in the day used for like $2300 and my USA NS-4 used for about $1500. I also have a solid maple NS5 CRFM. They are all I have ever played since 2007. I really love them and to me they are my sound. The Thumb compliments them big time because I don't think I could get a Spector to sound like a Thumb. :)

Here is a track I wrote and recorded using the Thumb. I'll get the Spector EURO comparison as well, but the Spector is an older mix now so I feel like I need to re-record the Spector with my NS2.
Let me know what you think? I love that with the Warwick I don't have to do too much processing and it just sounds bad to the freaking bone! I bet I can get it to sound more amazing if I recorded two or three tracks of bass too.
This is just one track of each. My apologies if it is sloppy...it's 4am when I'm tracking this....need WAY more coffee and gotta hit the gym.

The thing about listening to recorded music through a stereo system is that what you actually hear is the speakers you are using, so it will have different sound from one system to the next. With that said, I am listening through my computer which feeds a Marantz 2235B, and out a pair of ADS L620 speakers. Both clips sound great, but imho, with this setup, I think the Spector sounds better and cuts through better.
