Somewhat delicate ash-body and color oil "touch-ups?&qu

So I just purchased my first Warwick - Corvette std. 4 ash/burgundy red.
I had read here that the finish could mar easily...and boy, folks weren't kidding. My first real session of playing, I marked-up the body slightly from a little finger "over-travel" apparently. Anyway...

I love this bass and plan to purchase more Warwicks without question! But I am concerned that this finish is going to wear very quickly and noticably. So my question is basically this - is it possible to obtain a small quantity of "touch-up" oil/stain in the bass color from Warick(custome shop??), to apply to any of the more obvious "warwounds" and such, that I just know are inevitable? Just enough to dab into any more serious dings and such, is what I had in mind.

Any feedback greatly appreciated. If it's just a grin and bear it scenario, I'll learn to live with it!

Congrats on the new bass!

From my own point of view it's a "grin and bear it" thing... except I'm just grinning and not bearing anything... I don't see it as a problem. The coloured oil finish (nirvana black on my $$) has got a bit polished in places (like where your thumb rests), but overall both basses are looking "comfortably mojo'd", but not exactly battle-scarred. Even high-polish finishes take some day-to-day wear if you look at them closely - like tiny scratches all over the place.

I think it's always more of an issue when the bass is brand new!

I'm sure you're right, about the newness factor specifically. But I should have added, while this is my first Warwick, I've owned various guitars and bases for several decades now - so I've seen...and done my share of wear and tear, etc. But I never saw it show up so quickly and easily!

I figured this was a long-shot...but what the heck.
 
The coloured oil finish and natural oil finish are definitely a bit different to other basses and guitars... but it's something I've really come to appreciate. Wait till you get a natural oil finish bass and see how it shines up after a waxing!
 
PS... going back to your original question, I think you'd have trouble matching up the colour if you tried to touch up burgundy red. Might be easier with nirvana black... sure I heard about using black shoe polish somewhere!

Yeah...I was sort of afraid of that too. Well, this bass may just have a LOT of character after awhile, that's all! :lol:
