Also remember, that tube amps require alot of maintanence, tubes changing more often the more you play it, un less you can get hold of a really good set. And theres many things that can go wrong, forget to plug in the cab once, and it could be gone. Hybrid heads can give alot of overdrive, and theres alot of pedals out there.

There also really heavy, i understand youve propbaly considered some of these factors(theres alot more too) but its always good to keep thinking. Theres plenty of other really aggressive amps out there.

All tube amps are a pain in the arse.
They're like making an old Jaguar your daily commute.Be prepared to spend money on constant maintenance & hold your breath every time you switch it on.
British hand wired?BAH!A better description would be chitty chitty bang bang.
 
Have you tried the Tubepath? It can sound pretty ampeg-ish, but you can dial in some frequencies and give a lot more "aggresivness" to the sound, imo.

Love it. The X-Treme is also a decent amp, - if you want punchy aggressive sound without tubes, it would be pretty good. If also played a lot of Ampeg stuff, Trace and Mesa - but I liked the Warwick heads most.
 
I'm very familiar with the trials and tribulations
one can experience with Tube amps. It's honestly
not that big of a deal to me.

Besides, I enjoy tinkering with stuff when it breaks/
needs serviced.
 
You dont want to tinker with tube amps if you dont know what your doing, the caps store uo electricity and it will release if you touch. If its going through hard playing evreyyear, thats 150 in tubes. If you drop, they can break thats another set of tubes. Also youll need someone to bias it, and set it up.

(Again, paying for tubes doesn't bother me. I don't
put prices on my happiness, hence why I own a Warwick
in the first place.)

Though, I appreciate you guys assuming I know nothing about
tube amps...
 
Ok thats ok then, but i remember my dad running outside, when i smashed open an old computer and started poking my fingers around in side. I might have died if he had not torn me away.

But if youve considered evreything go for it. Though about an svt 2 pro, god i love that amp, if i had the money, i would have a fleet of them. Do you have a good music shop somewere, were you can line up aload of heads and just play through them. If your going to buy in a shop they will let you play all day.
 
There's a Warwick dealer right around the corner from
where I'll be moving in Ohio in a few weeks. (Where I
bought my Pro Line from.) They used to deal Ampeg,
I'm not sure they are anymore. (My PB cab/head was
snagged for 50% less than sticker.)

I'm not sure where the closest GC or other large music
shop would be in relation to where I'll be living, though
I will be taking regular trips back down to Florida, which
is where my favorite place in the whole wide world is...

And if you do go ampeg try and go SLM american ampeg, the best kind. Also when they were made in japan they were supposed to be awesome as well.
 
IMHO, if you don't go full tube:
1) Mesa for Ibrid heads
2) Gallien Krueger for all transistor heads
 
Let me be the first to give you a pre-welcome to Ohio.

How many watts are you wanting ?
That will help me voice my opinion on whats the most aggressive for the money .
As you know by playing one at the pawn shop pre gibson Trace's are way underrated power wise. My ah150 is about 225 watts. And as far as my opinion the ah350x is incredible, plan to get another one soon. If you need more than that the ah600 is the sh@#. A lil harder to find thou.
I've also owned a Mesa 400 and played it thru an SWR 2x10 and 2x15 set up. Very aggressive I thought.

Fact of the matter thou is: Everyone has different taste , You'll know it when you hear it.

Appreciate the welcome, however it's a hom
coming for me. I might be a Florida boy, but
I'm a transplant... I admit it, I was born in Ohio.

Although, there are more people in Florida from
Ohio, than there people actually from Florida.
lol.

I was turned on to tube amplification after years
of thinking it was only for old farts and relics after
I found out what a great tone they made when
cranked up and thrashed. I love the overdriven
muffly tone to death. (I'm a BIG Fu Manchu and
Queens of the Stone Age fan btw...)

So, I find it only right that my next rig be a tube
setup. I have been in love with Ampeg since day
one, and never really looked at much other. Sure,
I've played Behringer to see how crappy it sounded,
and I've played Crate to compare it to it's big sis,
and Hartke's been on the receiving end of one of my
thrashings seeing as the price versus availability is
pretty well rounded.

But I've never really gotten out there and played a
whole lot. I've owned smaller rigs / combos the past
couple years since I've been living in apartments and
such. I had an SWR LA12 I couldn't turn up half way
or the neighbors windows would shake. :eek: Now I have
this wonderfully loud Porta Bass series from Ampeg,
which cost me next to nothing, and the sound is good.

Though, I'm looking for something more snappy, more
not in your face, but striking your jacobs aggressive.

Again, hence why I'm turning to tube-li-fication.
(Although, I have to admit, a Hybrid with a Tube King
pedal [or other distortion] doesn't make me frown either.)
I really just need to get back into the market and check
out what other's are offering. Like I said, I've just been
in love with Ampeg for so long, I never paid attention to
anyone else.

(But then again, who knows? Maybe I'll end up back with
Ampeg anyway.)
