Hi all, This is a very nice bass at a nice price
It was lovingly made by a master cabinet maker over 20 years ago for his wife who played in a country band
He made a few basses and guitars around that time.
The build is fantastic it's based on a thumb 4 so has the same pick up placement as a 4 but with the correct width neck of a thumb 5
So the body is slightly smaller than a 5.
A one off hand tooled solid brass bridge.
bubinga wenge and ebony woods ,bartolini pick ups. The wenge strips have some sap wood in them and go from chocolate brown to grey in the headstock.
Only thing that could be improved in my opinion is the machineheads which aren't as good as the schaller versions.
It has no logo on headstock or truss rod cover though you could easily design your own personal versions.
I don't have a case though I could wrap it up safe ,given time,for shipping.

Impressive! That's a man with some serious skills. Did he fabricate the bridge as well?

I believe he had a small local workshop make it especially to his spec and it's all brass so far as I know.
I hope the lack of a "name" doesn't put anyone off ,It's a fab bass , low b is really nice sounding and the different pick up placement to a normal 5 thumb means you can get some serious bottom end but not overbearingly so .
I'd be keeping this if I could but need to get sorted out with fretted basses and amps etc. for something that's come up.
 
It is quite a beautiful instrument. Does it balance well, or does it have the Thumb's famous neck dive?
 
Best homemade Thumb I've ever seen. Guy did an amazing job.
 
It's not bad on a strap I notice it a bit more when sitting to play it ,but it doesn't affect the ability to slide around the neck :-)
 
Yeah awesome id pick it up if it wasent so far away. I cant play fret less, but prob the best almost bass to learn on.
