Yep :P Not just oiled... I sanded the body a bit and smoothed out the seams on the back of the neck (dont tell guitar center!!) I also took off the strings and boiled them, etc. etc. etc. set it all up and it played great... If GC knew... they would of killed me :P

I hope you sterilized your stove top after boiling guitar shop strings. :P

You should of heard the before and after... Before... That thumb sounded so HORRIBLE!!! it was dead! it sounded like one of those old fender jazz's with the string mutes... And after... Awesome :)

Speaking of strings... Do you have any opinion on fodera strings? I'm thinking about getting a set of the ones victor wooten uses.

The absolute best strings i have ever played. You will not be dissapointed. It took 2 months for them to finnaly come though, cause they are hand made. It was worth it.
 
Yeah mate,Fodera make great strings.Are ya looking at the Diamond 6 string set?I had the Diamond strings on my Alembic & it sounded great.
The VW set are nickel & the rest are steel,I'm not sure what the Anthony Jackson set are though.

I'm trying to find something that really brings out my mid-range growl... I love the tone that Ryan from mudvayne has... So possibly d.r. highbeams... Atleast thats what I think he uses. Maybe I'll try some d.r. lo-riders
 
The wooten strings are alot like D'Addario Light Guage Nickles, except better mids and better highs. They stay balenced, and are suprisingly easy to play with such levels of tension. They are truley amazing.

Yeah, he uses highbeams. They interviewed his bass tech while setting up the basses before a San Francisco show (On the DVD All Access To All Things). He uses a new set for every show. :D

I just wanna ad that the SN, in my ears, has a nice attack in the high notes, and very smooth low-end; thus combining the BO and NT in a good way.
 
When I was buying my first Warwick I couldn't decide between th thumb BO that they had in store or ordering the infinity SN. Unfortunately the store in Croatia(like many others) didn't offer any other W's SN basses or any bass with zebra wood body. They made me an offer for the thumb I couldn't refuse and since I couldn't try a SN I ended up with a Thumb

Maybe Hans Peter is doing the Warwick quality test, and the guy watching is the one who asampled the bass. :lol:

My first Warwick was also a Thumb BO5, though regretfully not the one I currently own. The Infinity SN and Thumb BO could not be too much further apart IMO. Neither one can make any of the same noises as the other. In fact, the SN is the only one of my Warwicks that requires adjustments on the amp - the rest of them I can swap out and just tweak the preamp on the bass. ~M~
 
Hmmmmm.................

I smell Warwick conspiracy.................they are making us buy ALL their basses.............so far it seems to be working........................except..................you know, except for the butt-bass :D

It`s never wise to put your Thumb in close proximity of an ass.

Have u tried Aage Jensen in KBH? I went there to pick up my Thumb after I had some minor adjustments made, and they had quite a lot of Warwicks. Even a Corvette Hot Rod! Some really nice basses they had lined up.... But so far away from me.... Might aswell just go to Germany 8)

They're slowly starting to explore warwick. But they're afraid to bring in more than corvettes and ldt editions 8) ... They had a single streamer s1 fretless -- for about 2 days. Then I bought it :D
 
Is that Streamer black? Btw they've also got some other warwicks or u can at least order all sorts from their webshop... and I think I've seen a thumb BO in there as well
 
Was it the natural oil-finished 4-string SSI? My friend and I both played around with that bass... very nice! Aage Jensen has both a 4 and 5 string Dirty Blonde, a 5 string Thumb BO and a nice sunburst SSI... The prices are just too high; hence you try them there and order them from Germany! :D
