Single cut Dolphin copy, headless!

Yo friends. That's what I am thinking about now. Does it sound like a fun project?

Most headless designs have space-saving compact
body shapes or at least have a body shape thaz no
bigger than a Strat. A Lolphin is a space waster.

OTOH, I spoze iffn you reeeaallly gotta have some
Lolphin love, then at least offing the headstock is a
sorta compensation for the extended body, so you
have a zero-sum break-even deal, sizewize.

Check out the [very rare] Klein headless basses and
geetarz for further inspiration similar to what you're
already thinking about.

I remember that you were interested in a sc before , but headless is a newer idea I think .
 
Anything headless makes you look like a retard on stage, imho. It is as silly as wearing a keyboard around your neck like Jan Hammer.
Also I do not really like any singlecut basses I've seen except for the thumb sc and adamovic eclipse models maybe.

Damn the fashion :) Nobody called Sting a retard when he was playing the Steinberger, but then again, everyone stopped using them like they stopped having Limahl-hairstyles. I see the point.

Hmm, yeah well no. Maybe not a headless then. Though for balance, transport, practise and rehearsal or tight stages it is the superior technology, isn't it?

Transport, storage, weight, balance... I agree are advantages.
I'm wondering if there are any real disadvantages? That is, except for looking weird on stage...

Many would argue anything other than a Fender makes you look like a retard on stage.:lol:
The Dolphin already looks unusual enough.... :)
 
I think this looks absolutely horrible, but this is kinda what you'd get...
AND you'd have to find a bridge with tuners that you can fit onto the exotic body shape.
 
I was at a Richard Bona clinic tonight, and he had a singlecut fodera. Ihave to say I think the headstock gives the bass increased personality, or any bass for that matter. I think that's why headless is out of fashion, something will be missing in the overall personality of the bass, or at least one hasn't taken the opportunity to utilize the headstock as a means to give the bass even more style, if that makes sense :) Oh, and Bona was AMAZING, he IS music, and his bubbly and musical personality trancends bass playing. It was great!
 
I would like it better headed . But an headless would be easier to tune real quick .
 
I know I can't photoshop, but in MS Paint I removed the head and added a random bridge from a google search:

No, you don't need a bridge with tuners. You can just replace
the stop tail with a row of tuners. It's a well worn approach.

Would have to call PETA and Green Peace. It looks like you chopped the flipper off of a dolphin!
 
Headless, single-cut and gold hardware... It couldn´t get worst than that.

Please, if something ain´t broke, don´t "fix" it. ;)
