Single coil PUPs for Streamer Stage I 5 string?

Hello.

I would like to change the pups of my Ss I with some single coil ones.

I have now Seymour Duncan phase 1 pups, they sound more like a P, and I am looking for another kind of tone.

I want more bite, more voice. I want single coils, it would be great if they are in humbucker cover.

What are my choices here? I think the dimensions are also important, as I prefer not to alter the wood of the body

Well if this isn't an opportunity for Nordstrand Big Singles, I don't know what is.

Although I'm interested in your interpretation of Duncan Phase 1s sounding "more like a P" - I'd argue that a P pickup is simply a noise-cancelling single coil with offset magnets. Granted, that's what a Phase 1 is, but I think any old pickup in that neck location would have a "P" tone. In fact, I can imagine a Big Split and a P-pickup sounding almost the same.
 
I know about the pup location sound, however I want a more aggressive tone, as my pups are fat , but I don't like the fact that the lowmid area is boomy around 350 hz

Also, I don't like the slap bite on these classic pups. I know how single coil sound and I want to go there. :)

My bass sounds fat and old school. But I play in an metal band, so I really want to change the tone.

Plus, I have played this baby for more than 300 gigs in the last 3 years and I feel I need to change somethinng

If single coil tone is what you're after, then Nordstrand Big Singles, Big Splits, or Fat Stacks are the order of the day!

You are crazy! Your live sound is simply amazing, and I saw you more than once.
Anyway, I am not sure how much the pickup have to say in the final bass sound, much more important is the positioning, type and gauge of strings, and bass itself (you have a NT which has that runder sound opposed to the snappy fast attack you probably need for VDV), and how you bang the damn thing also the orange LED's bring out the mids, and you need growl :-)
My bass will be home soon, hopefully this friday I will have it with me in Bucharest, and maybe this is a good enough reason to come and see my band live for once, you arrogant $#%#, mr "LookatmeItouredwithSteveVaihavenotimetohaveabeerwithflo"!
