Should i get the neck thru thumb??

I own a thumb BO, and i have had this problem since i have gotten this bass: i get very punchie loud low ends, but weak quiet highs and mids. and ALL of the notes on the E string are loud. and on the a d and g strings are quiet. I have tryed adjusting it, but nothing is worked. should i go and get a Neck thru thumb, or keep my thumb BO?
 
I had to vote "no"... Considering a more expensive bass just because you're having a problem with your current bass is a mistake. I assure you that the fact that your current bass is bolt-on is not the 'cause' of the problem... ;)

its also because of the music i play, i need a more mellow sound. a little less growl. i have also had many problems with this bass, it has broken, failed, and annoyed the crap out of me.

Gotcha. Only you know what's best for you. Although I'd hardly call the Thumb NT "mellow"... :P

Then get a new bass if you don't like yours.
I never tried the NT version of the thumb but I'm not sure thats the bass for a more mellow sound(just my opinion, never tried one in person),
go to a warwick dealer and see if there's anything you like;).
 
The NT and BO thumbs are pretty similar. Yes, the NT one is rounder... But they have the same character.
 
Maybe try another Warwick? Star Bass?
 
Could be that the sound of the Thumb BO is just not for you... or maybe it's not working properly. I'm 100% happy with my Thumb BO and it doesn't sound like you describe... but damn punchy, I'll admit. (But I've even known people disagree about what punchy means)
I think you need to try out a few basses and see what appeals to you before you commit to spending any cash
 
If you want different bass, get a ss1. More mellow, traditional sound. Or yes, star would be very cool.
 
If you don't like your bass get rid of it and move on to something else.You can always buy another thumb bo if you miss it.Unless there is something special about the one you have.My thumb bo plays great but the wood grain is very plain,if it didn't play so well I would have looked for a better looking one.
 
Get the NT I never really liked BO Thumbs. Its aittle more expensive but thats for a reason. Plus the sound of Bubinga amazing. the other woods sound like bubinga not vise versa
 
I might be wrong but it doesn't sound like you have tried the NT yet? If not, I would definately suggest testing one out (along with some other basses) before comitting such a vast amount of cash.
 
SS1 is the way to go for what you want. Or the Infinity or the Star Bass II.
 
i want to keep my thumb BO till i can bring a neck thru home. i want to play it and get to know the NT a little bit. if i like the BO better, ill return the NT. if i like the BO. i will sell it and get another type of warwick. i live in colorado, and there is not a neck thru thumb for HUNDREDS of miles. the closest ones are in california. What should i do????:confused:

There was one at Guitar Center in Arvada a month ago, not sure if it's still there or not... ;)
 
I love my Thumb NT. It's an amazing instrument. But I would also agree that it would be best to play the instrument before making the investment. That said, I also understand the difficulties of finding higher end warwicks to test drive.
 
If you want more mellow, try a Streamer LX or a Corv std? They'll be very rounded and more mellow.
 
The Streamer LX is a very interesting animal, I tell you! Try to test drive one...
