Should I be Worried About This?

Not sure if this is the right place for this but here it goes. I just wanted to get alittle input on this matter. This was there when i bought the bass. I'm not sure if it is something i should worry about or if it is purely cosmetic. It has not seemed to cause any issues or get any bigger. But i geuss i was worried it could or one half of my bass might fall off. Also what would cause this to happen? I don't know, what do you guys think?

Looks like a separation in the wood to me. I'd get it to my local luthier asap and if you it bought it get a refund

You have a small crack.
It looks like there's a very slight separation between 2 of the body laminates which have filled with wax leaving a white line. The crack is originating from that separation. If it's going to get worse is anyone's guess. I'd definately get it looked it & repaired while it's still small & cheap.

So what causes something like that to happen? I bought it from a guy on craigslist. It is a 2005 and what the poor thing went through before it landed in my loving hands is anyones guess.

If there's any damage to the head or neck, indicating a hard knock, that might've been the cause.
If not, sometimes ♣♣♣♣ happens. These things are made from wood, & wood isnt infallable. Even stone breaks sometimes.
I would'nt send it back. Just get it fixed if you like the bass. It wont cost much.

Something tells me the wood did all it wanted to do and it will stay like that. I would not spend any money on it yet, but I would check it from time to time, and if something looks like it's advancing, take it to a tech.

If it doesn't bother you visually, leave it that way, if it is not getting bigger. Changes in humidity does that to any wood unfortunately.

Thanks Guys. There's no damage to the headstock or anything. Other that what you see here it is in great shape. No dings, dents, or straches. The craigslist guy said he bought it from a friend in NYC. I got such a great deal on it i would never send it back. Plays great sounds great my fav bass. i was just worried this could turn into a bigger problem. I baby this thing like crazy so hopefully it stays the way it is.

i had a crack or seperation like that,what i did was sand the bass down save the dust. clean out the crack,pushed in some real thin uper glue, then mix the dust with the super glue and fill the crack resand till smooth,repeat till the crack is filled and flush by this time it should be hard to see after it looked good oiled and waxed the bass, the crack i had hasn't gotten any bigger or restarted you can't tell it even happened.if you don't want to try it your self a good lutiher an make it right easy.
