I just bought a LTD Jazzman and it keeps shorting out. The bass has a new jack installed. It only does it with my Monster cables. I am very confused about the whole thing. I have a neutrik cable that seems to work fine. I don't have any problems with any of the cables with my Carvin, and I doubt that I have two bad cables... My concern is that the bass is going to short out during a live show.

Is there something I can check? Everything looks good inside... Nothing loose or anything.
 
Was the input jack replaced with a similar one to the factory Warwick jack? If I recall, the Warwick jacks are sealed or closed at the end. Is the Monster cable body a bit smaller than the other cable and not making good contact with the input jack? Are any of the wires coming from the jack touching each other?

The jack was replaced with this one.

It doesn't look like any wires are touching each other. But, there are alot of wires in there!

I think I figured it out...

For some reason my Monster cable was wiggling in the jack on my amp (maybe the bass too) The Neutrik cable is a little different in diameter. So, the jack was bad on the bass, and then after correcting that I discovered that the jack on my amp needs attention. Which upsets me, but atleast I know where the problem is now.

On a related note... has anyone had problems with the Stew-Mac jacks? Is there a locking jack that I can install on my Warwick without any permanent modifications? My main concern is the bass shorting out during a show. Thanks for any input.
 
I know what happened now... I am a moron :) I had the gain set to high on my Eden, and it was going into protection mode... For some reason or another, the preamp must be a little hotter in my LTD FNA than it is in my Carvin... Go figure... Good news is that it has a new jack, and all is well with the world. I am glad it isn't a problem with my bass! :) !
 
Haha, two days ago I tried to say to check your amp, because it sounds like a protection to me. But I couldn't post... Mozilla was doing tricks...
