Setting up a darklord

ok, i have a darklord tuned to its normal E A D G ... when i got it, the seller has tuned it that way and set the action... i reset the action and have done almost everything to it but i still cant get the action low enough not to buzz on 15th fret of the D string...

i tried tweaking the truss rod, but it seems very tight and hard that after a total of a quarter learn in both directions, it doesnt seem to budge anymore ... so i just stopped touching it until i got to that "i have to use 2 hands to turn" point.

is this normal? do truss rods really turn a maximum of 180 degrees before you cant adjust them anymore?

currently, the Darklord's neck is ok but the action is still a bit high for me... ive tried improving my technique by learning to tap harder... n which i did... but then i play those Fender type basses and they are such a breeze to tap on! ... im jealous and i want my wick to play like those...
 
The truss rod will make a diffrence up to the 12th fret. Above that, it would likely be more of a bridge and saddle height issue. If you are hearing the buzz while not plugged in, it could be coming from the back side of the string.

Also, check your saddle pieces to see if they are set to have a similar curvature with the fingerboard radius.

it helped a lot ... thanx man.

however, ill just wait for my other wicks to arrive ... and just tune the darklord in C# while stringing it with a B string.

now the only thing to do is start some gore metal band so i can play this bass.
 
I have a Dark Lord in Drop C tuning (C,G,C,F) and the action is HORRIBLE. The strings are already hard to fret because of how fat they are, and the action is so far from the fretboard that tapping is near-impossible.

Can anyone offer advice on how to lower the strings? I have the Nut and Bridge down as low as they go and you can't even tell. Am I missing something else? (like, what is the "saddle" and can it help lower those strings?)
 
Sounds like your neck has to much curvature. You should try tweaking the truss rod just a bit.

You were right! I gazed down the neck from the bridge, and you can see a distinct curve upwards. I think I know how it happened. The bass is brand new and had never been tuned before. When I cranked up the strings, it pulled on the neck. Now, the action is so bad, its almost unplayable.

I don't want to mess with the truss rod. This Dark Lord is my first professional bass, and the last thing I want to do is go experimenting on it with a large metal tool. I called a local tech and he said he can set it up for me within a week for $45. I spent $150 on a flight case for the beauty, I guess I can spare $45 to make her play decent.
 
Yea, I wouldn't tweak my trussrod myself. Lol, I'm scared to even pop the trussrod cover :P

a really good setup is one of the best things you can spend your money on
 
My Dark Lord came with perfect setup from factory.
I am really happy with it and dont wanna change anything. :lol:
