Sensitive Volume Control

I FINALLY GOT A WARWICK.......

some might have seen me floating around this forum and others searching for my Warwick. Finally got one. A 2007 Custom Shop Streamer Stage 2. Has a matched headstock, black hardware and a twin jazz pickup in the bridge.

the neck, well is CHUNKY but definitely not uncomfortable. it fits the hand very well and i'm quite taken by it.

but my question is, the volume pot is extremely sensitive. With all my other basses, Stingray, Lakland and such, i can take the volume on board anwhere between 30%-80% at bearable for in home practice, but with the SS2, it kicks in at 10% and maxes out at maybe 40%. EDIT: this is % turn of the volume knob. so turn the volume knob between 30% and 80% of full on all my other basses and its fine. On the warwick its audible at a 10% turn and too loud at a 40% turn. so it gets loud very quickly.

Can you offer any assistance, as even the slightest nudge kicks it up a bit, and overwhelmes the mix.

probably the vol pot is not working properly just replace it it is a 2 min job
.

yes, #139 is correct.

i've edited the main post as it was a bit confusing. it might be a faulty pot, but i don't think so. A small movement of the knob produces a huge jump in actual volume.

understood:-)
if the impedance curve of the pot is wrong you will have that phenomenon.
It could be either damaged or replaced with a wrong pot.

The pots are cheap and easy to replace therfore I would start there.
 
thanks......start there. have spoken to the distributor in aus on where to start looking
 
WOW!! that's a nice bass. congrats... still no pics of the real thing... no bass LOL ;)

Yes, it seems it is a wrong pot, and you can easily replace it. But the best advice I can give to you is - try to always leave the bass with the vol pot full opened :-)

If you keep the preamp knobs at center, then it is better to pull the volume knob to bypass the preamp. You'll have a richer sound.
