Here is my new purchase, a 1999 Dolphin Pro I 5 string. It's got a lot of mojo, though from a few feet away it's not very noticeable. I sanded it with 400 grit yesterday. It took off all the old wax and dirt and what-not. I then oiled it and waxed 3 times. These pics were taken before the sanding. The grain really stands out better now. I will probably try to steam a few dints out by using the towel/soldering iron trick. There are a few deeper marks and a crack in the body, nothing to deep though. How should I fix these?

stunning :D

is it just the light or does it (the one with the ovankol body) have silver hardware with gold bits on it?

It's faded gold hardware! How much would new hardware cost? I think it's ovangkol, but 'm no expert.

Nice Dolphins dude,it's definatly ovangkol btw mate.

I never get tired of looking at Dolphins; seeing a pair is a special treat!! :D

Ahhhhhhhh,

two basses of the same kind. That's sooo sexy. I prefer the Ovangkol 5 string though....... 8)

Yeah, it's cool. They actually sound very different. The maple is bright and focused whereas the ovangkol is dark and deep. Both have loads of growl. I can't like one better though.
