Sad stories about your 'wick?

Hi there!

There's probably a lot of sad stories about your 'wicks! Necks breaking, people wanting to "take a look" on your bass and then running off with it, tuners put on fire, drunk idiots throwing it off the boat, then throwing it into a vulcano to see if it would float better there, etc.

What's your story? :D I'll start.

A couple of weeks ago some stupid drunk **** threw a beer at me at a gig and he managed to hit my infinity nt. First I got his name and phone number (local idiot), and then he was thrown out of the pub. Electronics and hardware got ****ed, luckily everything was repairable and I will get get it back home sometimes next week.
 
I almost broke my JAN II when trying 0.50 strings. They caught the nut and bent it, but luckily I caught it quickly.
 
I have a sad, yet normal ´wick story:

As many of you know, I bought a near mint ´09 Streamer LX in Antique tobacco few months ago. A week ago I was playing at home, practicing some Pantera songs and then I realized that I´ve scratching the back of the body with the buckle of my belt. I felt so sad that I had to put the bass down, stop playing, and didn´t played the bass in a couple of days after that.

Today, I feel glad that is just that and nothing worst.

I took my Dolphin to a jamsession and she killed all the Fenders and Ibbies. She's been a naughty girl. Now I'm afraid to take her outside the house. I'm thinking she will have a go at killing drummers next thing.

I saw a pic of me and my Vett hanging in a local gallery
and it's tagged at $500. It's a kinda stoopid "digital art
work". A friend led me to it, which shows me that it's a
recognizable likeness. It's digital imaging, so it woulda
been easy enuf for the 'artiste' to show a little etiquette
and alter a few details.

This story is not sad, just dumb.
 
Once my bass dropped directly on the tedur nut. I hade to put a little piece of plastic underneath, and after this I always carried a spare one with me

My stage technician ( a new one) tuned my B string one 8ve higher. The tuning key broke, I had to replace it :-) Imagine starting the concert with a LOW D (piiing!)

Champagne spilled all over my bass- that's a classic
Rain
Snow + Snowballs
Rain in my flightcase, found my thumb NT floating in the flightcase
Me stripping the paint off my neck. Me doing a lot of mods to my basses :-)


This are normal stories coming from a touring bass. The saddest story happens now, as my bass does not play anymore. I just gave my CS white bass to a local bass player to gig it in a pub...

I'll stop now before I cry.
 
I really enjoy, and simultaneously think it is sad whenever people ask me what kind of bass I'm playing.
Sad for them for not knowing, but great for me because, hey, it's my SS2, and nobody outside the band gets to touch it...

i know this!

happened to my first ever Warwick Darklord... i also dropped it once and it took a dive headstock first ... nothing broke, but it left a mark... it wasnt too big though.

i still remember seeing my scratched Darklord, and i pretty much reacted like you and just stared at it cause i felt so bad

nowadays, i have gotten over it and i think it looks cool with all those battle scars (i have also managed to relic the sandblasted finish through old fashioned playing. how cool is that?)
 
i once had a full passive 94 corvette which sounds incredible like no any other corvettes used to sound. well the sad thing (hm ok maybe it is just completely stupid...) bout it, is that i sell it!
 
Only sad story, is the 11 month-wait to get my lefty Vampire SN. It was worth it.
 
Both of them are hear next to me, but I'm too busy gigging them enough. They get played, all of them. But no stage for the next few months :/ THAT'S SAD!

I managed to break the tabs on my Vette's JAN3 and also JAN2 on my Infinity while changing the strings. I once cleaned the Vette thorougly and took the neck off. When I put it back one of the bolts was rotating without any resistance so it's held by only 3 bolts atm. Both of the basses have very rattling jacks, they have to be played so that the plug stays absolutely in place, otherwise the exploding sounds kill bandmates and speakers.

Nothing too serious.
 
Once i had a '91 Dolphin 5 fretless , once .
My wife swapped it for her credit bill . :-(

When you get married you walk up the church aisle with a beauty , fifteen minutes later you walk back down it with a ♣♣♣♣ing monster .
 
Once I spilled rice all over my fretboard... Don't ask. Luckily, it wasn't anything a vacuum couldn't fix.

It's not really sad, I just felt the need to share how much of an idiot I am with you fine folks.
 
Belt scratches ;___; and once my cat ran against my stand and corvette fell on floor, just went outta tune but been hanging it on wall after that.
