Rusted $$ Poles

Hey,

Here in Peru the humidity is a big problem. I've kept my bass propertly stored, and I've cleaned it as if it was my own son :d
However some of the poles in the Humbuckers are a little rusted, is there a way to remove this rust without affecting the PUP?
 
Remove the rust,but not with steel wool.Use a scotchbrite pad instead.Then you can apply a thin coat of clear nail polish to keep the rust at bay.If you dont like the idea of nail polish,use a drop of machine oil once every so often.

WD 40 deals very nice with rust. Your poles will turn grey, but they will not rust anymore.

Is a wonder spray, search it on google :-)

(really, it is very very good to have one in the house. Same as duck tape)

I tried yesterday with the scotchbride pad, and It did'nt do any good. A friend of mine suggested a light iron sand paper, does it make any sense?
This rust is really bothersome, each time I look at my bass I can't avoid looking directly at it.... :((
 
WD40 rules!!!! Buy some and start spraying everything!!!
 
Florin, I tried with the sand paper, and with the scotchbride pad.
The rust is still there and it seems as if it won't go away. :((
If I understood you correctly, the WD-40 is to be applied after I remove the rust, right? Or will it help remove the rust as well?
If the WD-40 does not remove the rust, what can I do? I'm running out of ideas here.
 
The WD 40 is removing the rust in one second :-)

WD-40 worked perfectly, and while I was already cleaning the pickups I also used it for all the hardware. Problem solved, thanks a lot guys!:d
