I know I might get kicked out but oh well... here it goes:
My favourite music band is "Rojo" and I have taken bass workshops with their bass player Emmanuel Espinoza and have followed them over the years, especially him when he was in other bands and playing for Marcos Witt. Well to make the story short One of my best friends is a close friend of Emmanuel and he did some sound mixing and studio engineering job for him (Emmanuel) for their last CD that just came out 1 month ago. Emmanuel had ordered this USA Lakland 55-94 (corrected) with custom pickguard and translucent white finish. By the time it was to pay my friend Emmanuel received this bass and literaly played it for 20 minutes and sent it to my friend in form of payment. My friend has enough basses so he let me know (knowing hoew much I like the band). Well to make the story short I traded 2 basses and cash for this beauty. is brand freaking new. not a single scratch and comes with a white "Pimp" case. Another rare thing about this bass is that Laklands are usually 2 pieces of wood that make up the body and if you see in the pics of the back of the bass you will notice that the grain is constant so it is only one piece of wood!!!!

just sharing with you guys and gals. I know it is not a Warwick but the tone of these basses is very good and since you can change the frequencies of the mids at the preamp it gives you a lot of tonal options I had to get it because of the tone, color, details and ... also because it was Emmanuel's.

Kudos to Rojo. if you guys wanna check some videos of them on Youtube for Rojo that's cool.

yep. I am so hapy with it. the cash was not that much but oh well. these Laklands lose just a little of their value as used. not as other brands.

I know the case looks dd and I will use another gig bag for playing but at home it is going back to the white case since I do not want it scratched or dented.

Oh yeah, how is the low B on that bass? I use my Warwicks to measure the over all feel and tone of the low B on other brands. Would like to know how they compare.

very versatile on sounds as well as to string adjustment. Yes very low action and ease to play.

at first I was resistent to try other brands but after a trade I got a Skyline and loved the tone and feel (same Skyline I posted here for trade or sale and now it is gone.. the first guy that came to try it he plugged it in and could not put it down..they are that nice yep. ) . this is like the Skyline but made in USA and the sound is even better. If these Laklands would have exotic woods like Warwick I would be in heaven again. This bass paired to my SS2 make me a happy man. 8:

Low B is super nice.
I usually do not like 35". all 5ers are 35" and the 4 stringers are 34". This 35 does not "feel" like a 35" at all. I can actually play it. Fenders and Spector 5ers are also 35" and they feel odd but this one is not.

I also like the option that you can either string the bass at the bridge or through the body (see pics below of this and also of the Skyline I used to have)


Do not get me wrong I have and have had several Warwicks and love them. this is .. different per se.

I also like that when you open the electronic cavity you can select the mid frequencies for the preamp so you can twitch the tone even more (see settings document below)

How are you adjusting to the 19 mm spacing compared to the 16,5 on Warwick (non-BN) 5-strings?

as odd as this might sound... I am loving 18 and 19mm string spacing on 5ers... I can not take 20 or above though. But 19mm is right where it feels comfortable, the Valenti, Pedulla Rapture, Warriors, & this Lakland and also the Benavente all have 19 mms and they feel right. I love it. BN warwicks did not feel right since I guess the string spacing being 20 mm and also the neck profile.

My custom Unicornbass is getting 18mm, a good mix between comfortably slap-able and fast fingering-able!
