Rockcase ABS

Hi,

I'm new to the boards having just got my first Warwick - Thumb BO Fretless 5 and want to get it a hard case sooner rather than later.

Has anyone here tried the Rockcase ABS cases and got any thoughts?

I've got a Warwick Flight case I'd sell if you want a heavy duty case. PM me if youre interested
 
Hey man, welcome to the forum.
They are big and heavy. Reliable if you travel with your bass in a truck with equipment.
 
yeah i really wanna pick up a nicer case that my corvette doesn't slide around in also. i mean, why have a $1,800 bass in a $60 case....seems stupid. i can't find any good cases locally.
 
My Thumb (4 BO) rests in a RockCase like this one:
As you can see it has 2 mobile cusions (lft/right) that secure the body of the bass in place; my guess is the case would fit most W basses. It's very heavy though (with the bass insise it can be quite a hassle to move it around), so it's a good option if you have to protect your bass in a truck or when flying to another country. For local gigs though you will need a soft case :)
 
Thanks for all the replies folks.

I'm really not sure what to go for, the Warwick ABS and Flight case are near enough the same price, so I was planning on going for the ABS on the basis that it would be lighter and I don't need extreme protection, but from Florin's comment above I'm not so sure.

And it doesn't look like it comes with the extra inserts either which is not ideal...hmmmm
 
For future reference in case anyone else has a similar question, I went for the ABS case in the end and I'm really pleased with it. I don't need to level of protection from the full flight case, so the ABS offers a great balance of protection and weight for me. It comes with the additional cushions to make a better fit on the thumb (still moves around maybe a little too much though)
