I got this beautiful bass Tuesday and I've been busy playing it, so I haven't have the possibility to post anything about it in here but here we go!

First some pics









Thumbrest is self made from wenge and the thanks for the gold tuners belong to Sascha, they look much better than the chrome ones. I gotta say it's the most beautiful acoustic bass I have seen or played. Very beautiful mwah ! Only con I can say are the slotted bridge pins ! Very hard to pull out and then again very hard to push back in. But that's not a big deal.

No amplification was used here. The songs are the first and the final song from my solo album.

And yes, It can compete with an acoustic guitar. (We tested nylon string guitar with pic and steel string guitar played fingerstyle and all I can say is that I'm amazed how loud this bass is acoustically).
 
That is awesome, I'm seriously considering buying the fretted version.

Where did you order?
 
Hi you, I ordered it from thomann. They have fretted versions still available but fretless versions are currently unavailable. I forgot to mention that this nice bass sounds beautiful amplified too
 
That is a work of art, love the gold tuners. How dod you glue the thumbrest on? i have a cheep acoustic that is dying for a rest.
 
Slapping is quite clanky as you could expect on acoustic bass but it sounds ok.

I used loctite super glue for the thumbrest. Of course I first tested it by gluing a small wenge block to high polish finished molding to see if it's safe. Everything went well ;)

In my opinion warwick's best move is the whole acoustic alien line.
As far as I know, it's only brand that offers ebony fretboards at that price range, and it's cool there's 4, 5 and 6 strings available, as well as fretless and fretted basses. No other company offers such broad acoustic line. Good job Warwick ! I have always loved ABGs :-)
 
Where did you get or have made the wenge thumbrest? I would need one for sure.
 
I bought a small block of wenge from local carpenter. Really great catch, I have made many beautiful jewellery from that beautiful wood too

I have some acacia papyrocarpa lying about, and some purple-wood wattle. could be fun. I also make jewlery from timber. small world.
 
Well Kisu, if/when I get an Alien, I may be contacting you to make me a wenge block identical to the one you made, if you are inclined to do so :D
 
Haha I could do it but I have used almost every last piece from that block already, not enough wood for thumb rest
